RC51 - Paint work is done, decals are done now too.

I will say the decal kit was shit.

one decal ("Honda" for the tail) was missing had to buy it from Honda dealer when the decal vendor wanted to charge me for it (WTF?)

Most of the black wing stripes for the lower side fairing were either too short or the wrong shape. One of them I had to re make myself it was so far out of whack.

the large "HONDA" decal for the lower fairing was 2cm too small

the "RC51" decals for the upper were grossly oversized and I had to buy correct ones from Honda.

the Decal vendor didnt seem to give a shit, no compensation, no apology , no "kiss my ass" or anything.

Considering how much I had to custom make, it came out really well

HOLY MUDD. That looks great! Good job on "finishing" their decal set. I guess most people just slap that shit on and say, "good enough".

What is the ID of the steering stem? Might have an alternate P/N. Chrome or black?

Those stupid caps... I always keep my open for some that are priced appropriately. Sellers think they are plastic encased gold plated titanium.

Hmmm.... OK different than what I was thinking (much larger).... try a plug from a Givi toilet seat rack? I think the holes in them are 13mm IIRC.

Searching for a new project now.

I know I still have the VF1000R's to sort out but thats for the winter and shouldn't take that long. Im still waiting on my M2/M3 gear from Japan , taking forever.

Oh no, an African Twin..... you're gonna hate it and that DCT, lol. Buddy of mine has a 2020, an 1100 I think with DCT. He got hooked on DCT with his Goldwing and sold it to get the AT. His buddy has a VFR1200X with DCT, and got me all excited about that (hard to find one used with DCT), but it's a "bigger" bike. While I'd use them more for street, those 19" front wheels limit you to front street tire choices... however, there are adventure style tires that can work well on the street, and rear tire choices are still there.
So, congrats, I'm sure you'll love that thing. Seat is a little lower than the 1200X. Both my buddies have offered me test rides, but I'm resisting... if I do that, my wallet gets an erection.

Nice RC51 project. Fall of 1999 when details were still not 100% for the pending RC51 and CBR900 replacement here in the States, I traded my '97 GSXR-600 towards either the RC or CBR, decision to be made when all details were given to the dealer. 2 months later, my wife decided she wanted a new house, went back to the dealer and my GSXR had already been sold- DOH!

My dad had been wanting to get back into riding, dealer had a super clean '95 VF750 Magna sitting there and I said why don't you just give me the Magna vs. the cash from the GSXR. They agreed and I hid the bike at a buddy's for a few weeks, then on Christmas Eve in an actual blizzard, suited up in my snowmobile gear and flat tracked it to my dad's garage to surprise him on Christmas Day! Dad was blown away, wife got her house that summer, but I never did get the RC....
