I have to agree with the others in that this was not your fault. Don't let someone else dictate your dreams for you. Second guessing what might have been, or what you might have done, is useless. This one time everything came together in an accident but think back about all the times that you DID do the right thing and avoided an accident.

I've always been of the opinion that every accident that ever occured, anywhere in the world, at any time, for any cause, is pure and simply an instance of bad timing. If you had sat at a stop light one second more or one second less this one never would have happened. If ANYBODY involved in ANY accident had left home one second sooner or later the accident might not have happened.

It's just a function of "Things Happen" and allowing it to destroy what you want to do is not the answer. Pick yourself up, dust everything off, get another bike and keep riding if that's what you want to do. Whatever you decide, don't let someone else's mistake make the decision for you.

    Beginner MSF!!

    That's what I was thinking.
Half the curriculum is confidence building.
Not to get off topic, but, "5 RWB [Anniversary Editions] in Chattanooga"???!!!!
I see them in dealerships all the time, too.
What happened??!!! I ride a '96 but would trade it in a heart-beat for one of those. I think they're beautiful.
Went down last September and just makes me itch more to improve and control my riding.
Get back on it, Pyle! ATGATT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First I am glad you did not sustain worse injuries. I had been in a similar situation in 1971 when I was in an accident with my new CB750. I had one leg that was badly injured and had the rest of the typical problems with broken ribs may burses and lacerations along with a concussion. They said my bike was totaled also so I decided to fix it myself. I eventually put it back to as new status. I had protective riding gear on only because it was cold and it is a good thing because without the helmet I would have been dead (I think). I strongly agree with what you said about riding gear; I would rather sweat than die. I was very nervous about ridding ( I don’t mean to be talking about me but I want to qualify what I am going say). When I started riding again I was very nervous and it took time for me to loose the fear factor but it was worth it. You can come back from this. I would make no decisions right now but first get better then take stock of things. It is better to live one day as a lion than a lifetime as a mouse. JIM

Been there! Cager took me and the bike out last month. I high-sided over the left perch, (ATGATT) saved my azz - literally. I am suing the guy that plowed into us. GEICO, his insurance carrier, was going to total my bike; but my insurance carrier, Progressive, chose to repair it, and I'm glad they did because the damage was mostly cosmetic. GEICO wouldn't have paid out what the bike was worth anyway.

For a while there, it was looking like I wasn't going to be able to get another bike b/c the wife was really upset. She witnessed my mood go from a constant upbeat positive to bummed out. Riding is in my blood, and she now understands and respects that. Aside from my situation; if you truly enjoy and appreciate riding, redeem yourself Bro! Don't eliminate your passion. Get another Viffer! Get an attorney and bag the Blue's insurance company, cuz you are entitled to a brand new Red, White & Blue, as well as some peace of mind.

Get back out there on the road and Rhyyyyyyde!!!
