I used to own a JR Phoenix, circa 1999-2000. It was not a very good piece of machinery which is why I sold it & purchased a different brand. JR has since improved the quality of their mesh jackets, as least as far as I can tell.

My wife did crash wearing textile jacket & pants. It wasn't mesh, just plain textile. She went into a rock & leaf filled ditch and the actual "slide" was over in the blink of an eye. There is only a tiny hole in the jacket & absolutely no noticeable damage to the pants. Had she been wearing jeans and a t shirt, I don't think the outlook would have been so good.

    KC-10 FE out...

when bicycle racing you have nothing to protect you . Seems like twenty seconds when you go down. I have to sit in an epsin salt bath and scrub the gravel out of the skin. OK when it is just my knee or arm but having my sadistic wife scrub gravel out of my back was no fun.

I noticed that the riding up seems to be an issue for the mesh. I wear a TiMax Icon jacket that has snaps that go around the belt to help stop the jacket from riding up. I've never tested'm but I hope they hold up when mesh meet the asphault.
