Ok, I've been holding off commenting, but I can hold no longer. Since its obvious you are hell bent on building a Frankenviffer and will not be deterred and I feel it would be unleashing the Kraken to hold you back.........I have the full on Givi rack and top box that I have never used and never will for a fifth gen that is yours for the asking. If you can figure out how to mount it or trade it or whatever, I dont care, Im not gonna use it and as Toe has said, it comes with five pounds of dust for free. Im just interested in how you can somehow make it into a magic part for that project. It came with my bike from the PO and its been resting peacefully in my garage loft along with the Christmas decorations and I ran across it in a timely way.......and I thought of you.........awww how sweet.

BTW.......does anyone know if Cundalini mounted those tires I sent him or did he just smoke them up in a bowl or what, its been like forever and I never heard what he did with them.

Lets create an odd ball crazy baseball style trade where you trade a top box to a fifth gen for a rear sprocket for a 500 for a fairing for a player to be drafted later.

I will accept ten beers at a bar in Colorado and your indulgence while I ramble on like a maniac.

I'm in. I'm all about adding as much weight to this thing as I possibly can.

since I enjoy touring with a taste of sport, bags/trunk are a necessity!

    many thanks Bear

    well, it's done

ordered paint today and she's going to be Pearl Yellow. Paint will be in tomorrow.

The tank I picked up off ebay with one dent in it was in a spot that I didn't have the tools to work it out. Too deep to fill with filler. Dropped it off at local body shop today so they could use the stud welder to pull it out. $75 and they'll have it pulled, filled, and sanded by Monday.

I've got the use of an actual paint booth lined up and hope to be ready to shoot around the 1st of the year.

Got it mocked up a bit. Still not sure if I have it in the right spot, still waiting on some measurements. May need to modify the exhaust pipe by shortening it a .5-1" and the linked brakes is going to turn this project into a migraine

It would seem that 6th gen rearsets would be the easy answer to your brake migrane, I seem to remember that they are COMPLETELY different though, so maybe not so much. Chicky (The Ton texter) may have a busted up RH that you can play with to mock up and see if it will work.

got my measurements. something will definitely have to give in the area of that right side rearset.

I need to go up 4" in the rear and move forward about the same.

    latest updates:

    fairing stay received
a front cowl in far better condition received, thanks TOE
perfect condition OEM 6th gen seat received, thanks jeVFR!
replacement front wheel off craigslist repaired at wheel shop.
ordered 6th gen rear light assembly
    ordered LED blinker mirrors.
6th gen tank on the way (5th gen tank will go up for sale).
found someone with a tube bender to help mod the lower subframe mounts to attach to 5th gen frame
talked to performance exhaust shop about slight modification to exhaust pipe to clear right side rearset and rear brake master cylinder

And the real fun news - have decided the whole bike is going to get completely stripped down. Aluminum bits like the frame, swingarm, and everything else are going to be powdercoated.

And what everyone wants, more pics - here's the mockup with the seat:
