Mine will ship quicker than you can fix that one.......free + shipping.
Hold on.....loading pic's.
stitched - notice along the cracks that I didn't just attempt to weld the whole crack in one shot. It's stitched together to hold it in place and minimize warping. Then I come back and weld the long cracks in between the tacks. I use a hot air gun. You can see more of my work in the 3rd Gen Resurrection thread linked in my signature.
yes. thought I may have mentioned that earlier? Dude took a track day class. Extremely hot afternoon and crashed it on the last run of the day. There's grass melted into the rear tire so it would seem the grip just let go.
Never too late. Glad my work tonight was on that other right side panel.
This is the bad side, a rash spot and the mounting for the turn signal is damaged.
The rest is cherry.
6 pounds of dust is free as well.
you realize I'm going to weld up those blinker holes?
No....I did not.....but I do know you will be welding until the cow's come home trying to put that upper back together........your son's grandchildren will be trying to unfuck that thing. Sweet shit my friend, that upper is .......
Shall I put it in the mail?
I suppose. but I will have to fix that old one too just to show you.
why don't you shit me an unfucked fairing stay, gauge cluster, and bar set?
He's so needy...
instead of doing that, this is a prime time to de-dumbo...
I know, but what are we to do?
whoa - that is extra sexy. That a china fairing?
Nope, thats my upper during the repaint. Just fiberglassed the dumbo holes, body filler, primer and paint...
Super easy and makes the bike look so much better. I also found some gsxr signal mirrors on ebay and those are now my primary signals. you could do that too, or get whatever flushmount type mirrors you want...
my plan has been to use the integrated signal mirrors.
just need to figure out who's sending what
Not to undermine your generosity toecutter, but I also need to repair my upper. It's missing a piece under the left blinker and has a crack above the left headlight. If tink doesn't really want your spare upper, I sure could use it to repair and swap as soon as it's ready. That way my bike isn't down while I work on the plastic. I'd be happy to pass it forward and send my beat up one to tink so he can fill in the blinker holes when I swap them out. Or maybe I could repair my old one when it comes off and help out a member needing an upper.
I don't know if it would even work on the 5th gen, or if you need it, but when I was troubleshooting my 6th gen Meatloaf sent me an IAT sensor that you're welcome to!
Thanks for the offer elwray. About time you stop by and say hello.
Lookie what showed up today kids! Many thanks to another VFRW member for another important piece of this project!
how do you make a 5th gen VFR an overweight pig?
answer: Put a 6th gen rear end on it
