Sorry pics are cloudy. Lens on my phone is roughed up for some reason.

Shock after it got back from Jamie's and I removed the old sticker and cleaned up.

Installed shock and reservoir as suggested by RC earlier. Thanks RC!

Will probably refit rear brake and sub-frame assembly after I clean the carbs. This thing sat waaaaaaayyy too long. Never thought it would take me so long to get this repaired and back on the road. Sucks when life happens huh?

At least you're in Cali, here in New England, that's a season ending repair. You still have some great riding to look forward to after you tighten the last nut.

(Try to picture Gandhi walking around a VFR in a full blown tourettes fit, throwing tools and a muffler stuck in the sheet rock)

Well since I can't get the exhaust on right now it will take me a bit to get this beast back on the road.

Yep, that's how I mounted mine.

It would not be possible to have some pipe extenders made at a muffler shop the move the pipes back a little?

What it really needs is some SERIOUS elbow grease and another pair of hands. I can just get the pipes lined up but from my position I can't get enough force to push them up. I'm thinking of using a little lube or something to help me out. Anyone have an idea what would be safe to use?

Can you shoot us a pic of your dilemma? I can't picture the issue. Where is the lube supposed to go? Are you having a hard time getting the pipes in to the heads?

    My thoughts exactly. ^^^

Pic of my aftermarket 6th gen. exhaust headers for example Tex. Are there any slip joints in the pipes of your 4-2-1 exhaust header? The reason I'm asking is that it sounds like you're trying to line up all four pipe flanges at once and install your exhaust headers all in one go.
All of the aftermarket V configuration engine exhaust headers for sportbikes that I'm familiar with have had some form of slip joint in them where the front and rear pipes were designed to be seperated from each other.
The rear two pipes are supposed to be removed from the headers, bolted loosely to the exhaust ports on the rear head, and then the front pipes are brought up to meet them. Those pipes will go on like butter when you install them that way.

I will take pic tonight, but I'm just talking about the last piece of the 4-2-1 combiner. Back to front it is Muffler then 2 pipes into a combiner then out 4 that slip onto all of the header pipes relatively at same point 2 on each side under the bike. About a 2" slip-on area on main header pipes.

Old pic I found. arrows are to the 2 slip on joints. 2 more on other side. last piece of exhaust is all welded together of course.

So the problem is, you cant line up the 4 pipes with the head pipes and still push from the back? Take a strip of sand paper and sand the ends of the head pipes till they're shiny. Do the same for the inside of the header pipes. Spray a lube on both, don't use grease, it might be too thick. If you need to spread a few pipes, wedge something between them to open them up. If you need to squeeze them, get a large hose clamp or or strap. Rest the header on a jack for proper height. Once you have alignment, put a block over the collector opening and whack away. That's all I got without seeing it.

Loosen the front pipes up at the ex. port to give them some free play, then once you get your pipe on you can tighten everything back up.
