The exhaust port gaskets might be copper in which case you should be OK but it won't take much to line everything up. I've done this a number of times. Use a little grease on the joint where the pipes meet inside and out.

Well..... my backs a little sore but with the use of a well placed ratchet strap, loosening the front 2 headers, some lubricant and a lot of rubber mallet action I got it on. I have to do some modding to the rear sub-frame so I can attach the exhaust can. Will get the carbs off and cleaned this week, replace the boots with the new ones I got, and button the last bits up.

I see the massage chair at work in my future tomorrow.

Way to stay with it. I find my big hammer is one of my favorite tools.

As soon as the carbs are cleaned, I have to fabricate a bracket to hold the muffler. If I can make a temporary one can you weld a permanent piece in for me?

Cleaned carbs and re-installed with new carb boots. Now to take a grinder to the sub-frame.

So as always when I have something apart I can't stop messing with it. Yesterday I ground all the passenger pegs off and smoothed it out, cut off the rear mud gaurd, and fabricated a license plate holder bracket. Went to put the sub-frame on the bike for exhaust bracket fab and it isn't lining up correctly.......confusing. The right side is hanging down lower than it should. Will un-F that then begin bracket work. WTH

Ok finally got everything back together I think. Charging the battery now; already charged the carbs, will check tires and what not after it starts. I love the single higher exhaust.

Well........suck. Battery fully charged key in and TURN; made the clicks but didn't even try to turn the motor over. It's acting like something's not plugged in but I'm sure it all is.

the battery may be shot regardless of what it's showing. Have it load tested before you do anything else.

Was brand new when shock was lost. It's lighting everything up and I'm not having much loss when attempting to start. Meaning the lights aren't dimming much when I attempt to turn it over.

If it sat discharged for more than a couple of months it is shot. How long ago was the shock lost?

A year?! Sad I know. I will go backwards and figure out if I made all appropriate connections before I believe it's the battery.
