This is good. Keep the pics coming with narratives. By the way did the dogs bow out of helping? I don't see any paws in the pics. Or is it your demeanor keeping them away?

No they love to help......must keep a constant eye on the young ones. The blondie will walk off with tools and parts and the blackie will chew on wiring and fenders if left unchecked for one second.

    The fix is in

Talked to Dan this morning and he told me it was OK to spin the housing......Was a bit concerned aboot just doing it withoot talking to him for several reasons including the warranty. The six bolts that hold this thing together were not just to be willie nillie whooped oot with oot a question or ten given it has a 13 to 1 gear ratio from input to ootput. Yes boys and girls.....13 to 1 ratio......this thing is SINGING at full tilt boogie. I know now that there are another set of smaller bolts that retain the gear box together as a unit when the ends are serviced. Here it is clocked correctly.

    Much better

Did a test fit as it was soooooooooo not going to work before and there is quite a bit of things that need to find a new home for this to go in....but it does go in quite nicely.

    Installed

Have to remove the OEM harness holder and relocate the main harness a few inches closer to the front of the frame for the final install. Not that happy aboot that but after talking to Dan this morning aboot my concerns he assured me there was more than enough slack in the harness to pull it off....and he was correct....not a problem at all but I will have to address the issue of wiring once this is fully installed. I am not at all willing to let it go as is and will spend some time with the the repower crew at work to gather some protection for the wiring and extend some of the leads for long term wear. P clamps and zip ties will abound before it is all set and done. But it is installed.

    Plumbing

Connected the pipes from the charger to the manifold. It did state in the instructions that you would rather be raped in prison than perform this task, and the instructions were correct. Had to fit, refit, fit again, curse, have a beer, curse, curse, have another beer and then call it good. Thought I took more pictures but I was focused and moving like a high dollar hooker at this point.

Still waiting on the radiator , grill, and clutch parts from my uncle Ron. (Ron Ayres). So I went ahead and installed the tension pulley assembly.

    Oil tank

This cock sucker just does not fit and will have to regroup Thursday for the final fit but it is ready to go in. Will have to show it a bit of love as it is too wide at the base to fit between the frame and air box. Minor issue as it is close and a trip to the machine shop at work in the morning to spin it down a bit more is not a big deal.

    Parts

I am quickly running oot of parts. There is really not much to this kit and it goes pretty quick. I would give a time estimate at this point of ten beers total and a third were for reading. The instructions are good but a bit confusing in the wording but after going through this I think I have Dan's frame of mind and could do another kit for a different bike withoot the same problems.

    Stopping point

I left it at this point and cleaned the garage and put everything away for a regroup. Still waiting on the radiator and grill, also the new clutch, windshield , dash panel, side dash panel and some hardware. Will finish the oil tank, fuel pump, down load the map, and start to clean the beast if the parts from uncle Ron do not show up in the morning.

    Just asking

I have been looking at other gen 6's and have not seen this on others but my windshield, inner dash panels and the dash itself have all cracked in a spider web fashion and had to be replaced. Junk. Thinking it is too many wheelies but I have never had this happen to any bike I have owned and all damage is noticed since SLO. Anyone else suffer this? Will post pic's if wanted. Part of the other repairs I mentioned earlier.

Looks like you are really handy with a wrench and I am green with envy. I see from your avatar pic you have an 86 but with the swing arm off a newer bike? Like maybe a 91? Please direct me to the thread about that if there is one. You guys that are mechanically inclined I truly admire, I can't do it...
