What's up this Jack. Planning on riding from Phoenix,AZ to Sturgis via Spokane, WA. Is anyone planning on attending this 75th anniversary? It would be awesome to meet other VFR riders along the way. Any thoughts?
I have an old friend who is a cancer survivor. He lives in Spokane. We are going together. Good times.
Great on your friend. Not a Sturgis fan myself. Have a great trip though. Try to find some back roads on your trip up and over. There are some of the best roads for riding in eastern Oregon and Washington..
Long way to ride to sit in a traffic jam, and enjoy riders so slow that dump trucks back up behind them. It's a great area, and some nice riding, but not during the Sturgis event.
As much as I would like to take this route, it is way out of the way for my first leg. My goal is to get to Spokane by Tuesday evening.
One week to go. Been making preparations for this trip. Recently I changed the oil and coolant. Also replaced the chain and sprockets. Found a pair of rear grab bars to strap my gear to. Got a goPro to document the journey. Thinking about creating a YouTube channel to share my adventures.
You're forgetting about the arseless chaps in use by the Harley riders. Will make for very disturbing viewing.
Be prepared for motorcycle traffic so slow that dump trucks back up behind them. Seen that in person.
This may be just a rumor or a new anal in Harley lore. Some harleydoods have taken to wearing those assless chaps backward as sort of a signal to other harleydoods that It is just as blessed to give as receive. Another new feature at the Fest of Sturgis is the anti-STD booth where all the condoms are imprinted with "large".
https://goo.gl/photos/gPn1o9EBH413Y4oa7 This is a link to my google pics of my trip that I shared with my Facebook friends and family. This trip was coined by a friend of mine as "An Epic Adventure." I logged exactly 4908 miles. Visited five National Parks and Monuments. I took mostly all back roads. I also saw only a couple other VFR riders along the way. I also have hours of GoPro footage. I need to figure out how to create a movie with video and still shots along with text and or commentary.
This re-emphasizes to me how much of a pathetic rider I am and boring life I lead. Great trip and story. It would be a great idea if you set up a Youtube channel and posted your videos as well to tell the whole story. Would definitely be worth watching. Glad you had an adventurous and safe trip (except for the dog bite thing...still trying to figure that one out)
This was a grueling ride. I did 824 miles my first day. My back side suffered. Every night after a ride I crashed out early.
