Did my first full paint-job on Saturday. My buddy is a painter, has a shop at his house and gave me a lesson. I think he was a bit surprised how well I did. No runs, and no orange peel.

Got the wheels painted a couple of weeks ago (Duplicolour wheel paint) and back on the bike with new bearings, new brakes, new fork seals etc. The paint on the bodywork is a very close match to the wheels (admittedly - by accident), so that should look good.

I also bought a Bike Master wheel balancer, so I got to try that out on these wheels since I had to remove the wheel weights to paint them.

New Bar end weights and grips are on - another annoying '93 Suzuki oddity, proprietary grips that have double walled rubber ends to fit over lips & large ridges on the throttle tube. So I had to modify the throttle tube to accommodate a standard replacement grip. WTF Suzuki ?

later this week ill sand the fuel tank again with 600 and put the decals on, then re-clear it. I dont like to sand, decal and re clear a tank unless its dried for 4-5 days.

After that, ill start to reassemble and install the body-work and start putting the Pepsi decals etc on it. ---My favourite part of the build. (although the painting was a lot of fun and very satisfying).

    Excellent. Nice job!

I'm getting ready to cob together a temp paint "room" in the outer garage. I can't wait until spring to get some shit done.

    Ohhhh.... YEAH. And Nick Ienatsch.

On the last day I pulled out my retired Arai Freddie Spencer Supervent (my 1st street bike helmet) and had him sign it opposite the factory decal "Signature". Redemption.

Just how much red, white, and blue is in your garage Capt? lol
I still have my original Doohan (first helmet), but never could get him to sign it. The guys at the moto shop could only laugh because I didn't own a bike yet, but I was buying an Arai first.

    LOTS

I opened my 16th birthday present and it was the Freddie Spencer Arai. Along with the message that they would match every dollar I made / saved for my 1st street bike. That ended up being a 1984 VF500F with 1000 miles on it for $1500.

SO jelly of your garage space Stray.

My first bike was an 88 Hurricane (pearl white with red stripes) from an older college student with 12k on it. $2400. I may have been robbed but I didn't care, I just wanted to ride.

Well, I thought I had my issue with dropping cylinders solved with the new plugs....not so.

Recall that I lost cylinders, and as soon as I put 4 new plugs in it it roared to life and all was well with all 4.

Started it today, it started on 4, then dropped #4 cylinder , then dropped #2 Cylinder . Both the dropped Cyl are on different coils, its a wasted spark system. I do have spark on 2 and 4 but its not super strong/blue, but it seems unlikely that both coils are bad (?).

Back to square one, Im totally lost on this TBH. ready to drop a match on it, electrical is not my strong suit, but it does seem to do this once it gets hot.

ignition wires ok? I once had a similar issue and it was corrosion on the wire to the plug cap connection. I snipped the end off and put the cap back on the wire...issue was resolved. I know it could be just anything but you never know.

My next move would be Suzuki's equivalent of Pulsar Coils that are notorious for heat related ignition woes.

    SIGNAL GENERATOR ASSY
    33110-17E00

Have you been in there to make sure the rotor and gen are secure and undamaged looking?

Thanks Capn' , No not been in there yet. Im also gonna get another set of new plugs (again), seems odd, but I'd put $ on the bike running flawlessly with another set of plugs in it. not sure why it would be killing/eating plugs (they "look " fine). my buddy has a VF1000R eating plugs every few starts and it behaves in a similar way (he has not figured out why yet either).

Interested to hear what my cause plugs to shit the bed so fast.

I tested the coils again (all in spec) I did also tested the resistance on the pulser (per Suzuki manual) and thats OK, but ill have to take the cover off for a look inside, maybe tomorrow.

Thanks, yea, I did the same with these last time, snipped 1/2 inch off and re-installed.

My hope is to find a smoking gun, and not have to keep throwing $ at electrical parts hoping for the best.

Tomorrow when its stone cold ill see how it behaves, If its still only on 2 cyl, im going to try new plugs again. If its back to 4 cyl until it gets hot and shit the bed then , ill focus on Coils/Pulser/Stator/CDI stuff.

All still have to check valves but im not sure that would cause my issue
