Can't say for sure if I could fix it or not, he's put a hell of a lot of work into it. But that would be the only scenario that I would feel comfortable with.

    yes, thats the plan.

time is short these days, I have alot of irons in the fire at the moment and once March and the thaw hits, ill be full bore into outdoor projects on the farm, so If I dont sort it in the next few weeks, it will be parked until the fall when I resume the bike projects.

I still need to put new tires on my Africa Twin and on my Son's Beta too.

1st week of March ill be painting my NS400R Rothmans bodywork

Still haven't started my fire wood, which all needs to be done by end of march at the latest

So... no rest for the wicked I guess.

the CBX750 is still waiting for its turn as well...next winter now I guess

I thought those were damaged during removal. But I don't think I looked REAL close as to the nature of the damage.

I can't confirm this, but I have to believe there isn't anything wrong with the one's he has. I wouldn't start throwing the baby out with the bath water just yet. If the used ones don't work, then you're really gonna start spinning. Stay the course, take the time, complete the steps.

My thought process is that he has done everything on those carbs several times. Maybe I missed something.

Still haven't popped the valve cover. I know... low %. But I wouldn't buy shit until I knew everything was fine on the valve train.

That light popping in the exhaust could be more than just mixture, it just needs to be explored, and possibilities eliminated systematically.

I'm calling it now. Stray is going to pull a loose feeler gauge out of the valve train that's been causing all of the issues. He'll have inadvertently become the leading expert on GSXR 750 carburetors in the process.

Yea, ill get through it all eventually.

the strange thing is, at "one" point #3 ran perfectly, it was the only one of the 4 still alive at one juncture. Its true though that most of the time #3 has been the main problem cylinder.

So, logic tells me its likely not a mechanical issue if it can come and go, but yes I do have to go through the valves and cams regardless.

No real updates, I've not been in the shop much (although I did get my furnace fixed -- propane pilot runner jet was clogged, it must have got infected it when I parked the GSXR too close).

Any way, I did pick up the pillion seat from the upholstery shop, its not clipped in , just resting there for now..

I gotta stop hanging out here, it's getting contagious, lol. My propane tube heater quit working yesterday.... luckily all I had to do was replace the two AAA batteries in the programmable thermostat. Who knows what would happen if I had a GSXR............

I was talking to Steve at Iconic today … he’s the head mechanic there and he knows his carbs. He mentioned the ring to me and took apart a set of flat sides off a ZX7R and showed me the o ring. He also mentioned that you have to be real careful when pulling the brass holder as they can become distorted easily.

Also mentioned the overflow tube in that bowl … make sure it isn’t cracked or split…
    You probably checked that but…
