Hey, the CHP recovered my VFR abandoned very close to the Weaverville motel where it was stolen! Recovery of stolen motorcycles is virtually unheard of, so I am one of the very lucky ones!

I have no particulars about the condition of the bike, although the police report says the condition is "good" except the ignition has been "tampered with". I'm arranging to have it picked up from the impound lot tomorrow, so I'll have more informations then.

Thanks for your help and emotional support. You guys (and gal) are the best!

    Jon

WOW! As been said, recovery is rare but not impossible. Yours is one of only a few I have the pleasure of hearing of the recovery! Although you have not seen it yet, congrats none the less!

That's great news! I thought for sure it was long one. I had a mountain bike stolen a couple years ago and was surprised when the cops called to say they actually found it a few days later - turned out the thief had pawned it at a shop about 15 miles away within an hour of stealing it - dumbass had to give finger prints and i.d. to pawn it so needless to say he was convicted - lol.

All of the above that was stated, just totally mind blowing. I too as sure it was all ready half way around the world in pieces. Nice to hear, now how much hassle is it to get from the yard?

Sounds like part 1 of good Karma coming your way...

    1 They recovered the bike

2 Bike is in good condition, and

    3 They catch the bastages...

They may have sensed that if they kept it, a big rig was destined to drive over them.

Easy to see what happened here, they pinched a VFR, then decided to look on the internet to find out what it was that they had stolen, VFR World came up and after looking on the site for a minute they could see it was from here and that many were on the lookout for it so they could see it was too hot to handle so they dumped it. At least that is what would like to think happened. Congrats anyway, but where does that leave you with the insurance co?

My brother is driving down to Weaverville from Ashland to trailer it back. I'll get the scoop on the bike's condition then. Next comes the insurance assessor, determination of damage, and insurance resolution. I did this recently with USAA for my auto. USAA was painless. This time it's a different insurance provider. Still, I think I'm on a roll!
