Bsims - so is everything cool now though, as far as the bike running properly? Sure hope so. I'm not buying the "don't add anything electrical to it". There are plenty of viable solutions and options out there. I know that two forum members here - Randy and Knife - both run a fair amount of electrical stuff. Maybe you can PM them for some input. Go take a look at Wire My Bike and check out all of the fuse blocks and grounding circuits. I don't know enough about it to tell you what to use, but I'm sure that something can be done.
I am going to do the wire to wire tonight, I felt the wires a bit after riding it home, and they were fairly hot on the stator side, and not so much on the connector side. I noticed the wires on the R/r side of the connection seem to be a higher gauge than the ones coming from the stator? Whats the deal here?
