It is my opinion that, what the so called "Man" sees in real life is way worse than anything you will ever see on Superbikes.

If it is your opinion that this TV show is going to radically alter the thinking of Legislators, then write a letter to SPEED channel and your local elected officials and tell them what you think. I was just questioning the motivation behind the thread to begin with. I just don't agree with the " we are all in this together" concept and that this TV show is somehow making me look bad. It is my opinion that this is giving far too much credence to a TV show. I joined the AMA and pay my dues so that my voice and the voice of other motorcyclist can be heard and represented.

People that don't like motorcycles, don't like motorcycles because they saw some riders doing burnouts and pulling wheelstands in a parking lot on TV. It is mostly due to a lack of understanding that no amount of convincing will ever change. These types of folks aren't looking for additonal ammunition to attack motorcyclists and motorcycling, they are going to do it anyway out of hate and ignorance.

I feel we shouldn't be questioning other folks motives for how they choose to live their lives, because we share a different view. I think I will just try to put the best face on motorcycling that I can personally and save the attacks for the other folks who choose to spend their time doing that type of thing.

I have to agree with Norcalboy...if you don't like, don't watch it.
As someone once wrote: "99% of everything on TV - to include the nightly news - is made up." My basic corollary is: if it sells hype and/or commercial products, it's utterly contrived and largely fictitious.
    Do you really believe "Pinks"?
Go read Plato's Allegory of the Cave.

I think a lot of people said the same thing about some guy named Evel Knievel a few years back. You might have heard of him... They have to learn somewhere... (if they live that is) ;)

What I don't like about the show(yeah,I watch it) is that it gives credibility to the whole irresponsible notion that it's o.k. to pull power wheelies and wheelstands and burnouts and whatever else on public strets without proper gear and with machines not specifically built for that purpose.
I have nothing against stunts and stunters, some of my friends stunt but they do it (mostly) at the motorsport park and special events for exhibition.
They ride bikes specially modified for this purpoes only.
Superbikes blurs the line between closed course pro stunting and stupid punks on big sportbikes doing stupid things in unsafe environments.
The last thing young riders need is a show that glamorises this type of "riding"
It also gives our sport the worst face in the eyes of the majority(non-riders)
    Ahhhhhhhhhh....feel better now!

Are there any well written, informative shows about motorcycling out there?

yea t-bone, for the most part, im right there with ya. i only wish that the show would promote the time-and-place mantra and let riders know that stunting on the open road, epically freeways, is just too damned dangerous, but stunting is a great thing to be enjoyed in closed courses and controlled conditions, so nobody gets hurt.

I watched a Superbikes show featurning Busa groups the other day - c'mon, almost noone wore helmets and there were many idiots riding around in shorts.
This show is uninteresting to any serious motorcyclist, irresponsible in it's representation of motorcyclists, and just a complete waste of a half hour.
I'd also like to add that anyone who would reduce a sportbike's handling ability by stretching it to look cool is pretty much a waste of DNA.
