I dropped mine getting her OFF the center stand.

NEVER have the side stand down when you are taking it off the center stand.

Be carefull cun. I had...had progressive on both my bike and my truck. Truck gets broken into and they steal my GPS/Radio head unit. No real damage to the truck. Just the radio was gone. I called them to report this and asked before the ball got rolling, if this would increase my coverage....They stated no so I continued with the claim. So fast forward two months and I get the re newal bill and its 60 dollars more a month. When I asked why for the incressed bill they gave me a song and dance but really never gave me a straight answer..I dropped them instead and got insurence through Farmers...When the agent and I went over the coverage she couldnt understand why my coverage was so high...Come to find out the claim that progressive put through (comprehensive) does not carry an incress on insureance but it does carry a "warning" flag to all claims. That was the reason for my increse. Farmers was still cheaper and they recognized the claim and stated that my insurence will drop back to normal in a year without any more incidences. I know that this is apples to oranges type thing but just thought Id give you heads up.

If it makes you feel any better, I once put a bike with less than 1500 miles on it over an embankment into a tide creek

Lesson 1: Developing an emotional attachment to a machine will not prevent it from killing you if you tell it to

    Lesson 2: It sucks

The only sure way to avoid something bad happening to your bike is to put it in a museuem. Even then the museum could burn down

Well, if it makes you feel any better you could have dropped it 6 times just trying to get to your destination..!...

    :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::faint:

Funny though how mine went down so many times and didn't break a thing :^)

Really? I always have my side stand down... I find it works for me... Grab the left bar and grab handle, roll forward, when it drops lightly pull toward myself and it gently rests on to the side stand... I do it the same way every time. HOWEVER... I'm a newb to this bike and moto's in general. If I'm missing something and am "playing with fire" please let me know.

    --------------------------

Cundalini... dude... glad to hear you're okay... sorry to hear about the bike.

It is indeed sad to see this happen to such a gorgeous machine. That said, it is a machine and can be restored to its former glory. I dropped my 07 once on each side within three months of buying it brand new, so I do feel your pain brother. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't let it drag you down. It was an accident, we all know they happen, and no matter when or how they do, IT SUCKS. All will be well because I know you'll get her prettied up again. The REALLY important thing is that you didn't get (physically) hurt. Chin up brother man!

Its ok man. We've all been there. Hell I didn't have my 04 more than two days before I put a nice deep 2" scratch in the tank that made me pissed for a month. All my own fault and nothing I can do about it. I still get angry thinking about it.

Now that you mention it, that does sound like something that character would say.

If I remember correctly, however, Terminators were programmed specifically not to kill you even if you told them to. If motorcycles were capable of being programmed this way, they would lose most of their utility to most of us as instruments of enjoyment, since most of us do at least one dumbass move so often that the damn thing would be shutting itself off all the time.

That would be some awesome technology to say the least, a "DUMBASS DONT MAKE ME KILL YOU" knob on the handlebars similar to traction control that would allow the rider to set the level of dumbass allowed during the ride.

Ah Nuts!!! Sorry to hear you biffed Neck. Good to hear you're alright though,a bruised ego heals faster than broken bones do.
    Trust me I know.

Can't really tell too much from your pic but the damage doesn't look too bad. Looks like it's all cosmetic, plastic and paint, and that's usually fairly easy stuff to fix.

Got a question for you Neck. I can't see it in your pic,but did your brake lever get scuffed or bent? If so PM me your name, address, and zip code. I've got something special that I've been saving. I checked, they should bolt right on to your bike.
I guarantee it'll turn your frown upside down.
