My wife took a beginners class through the local Harley dealer a few years ago, taught her everything I had no patience to teach her (especially on my bike). It was an all female class that lasted the weekend and she got her license through the class. Well worth the money.

The PC800 does not look like a good beginner's bike... if she wants her own bike, get her into a small bike so she can learn properly.

The PC800 should never be considered a two-up ride. It's just too under powered for that. For $1500 you can't go wrong as a solo mount for her. The ST1300 is MUCH bigger and heaver but more powerful as well. I have ridden the PC800 and find that the only draw back is the seating position is a bit cramped for my 6'-2" frame. Any decent bike under 2k these days is a steal.
