Would you consider a really low mileage 08 with the 4 year warranty?

you guys must not have finished reading... here he said:

I bought one on Tuesday! Drove 350 miles one-way to get it. It's a 1998 with 12,500 miles on it. New Metzler tires, chain & sprockets, battery and it's in excellent shape. The tail section has a very small crack in it but I'm going to reinforce the damaged area on the underside of the piece so it doesn't crack any further. Other than that, the bike is spotless.
I can't believe how much power it has.

    Hey Guys (and Gals),

I'll hop on this thread as I'm in the same boat - looking for a used 6th gen VFR...although I dont have the same problem as you, I find them regularly on Craigslist here (sorry!). I used to own a CBR600 but now want a sport tourer for the wife and I to take trips on.

My question is this: I'm finding a lot in a price range I can afford, but with a good amount of miles, between 12-20k. Assuming that a bikes been taken care of, can any of you speak to the long term reliability and maintenance issues (if any) with buying a VFR that already has 15k on it?

Thanks in advance! I've got one on the line, 2003 w/ 14k miles for $4500 which I'm considering.

Jap bikes in general will last a long time if well taken care of, especially Hondas, and even more especially the VFR (6th gen is extent of my knowledge). Don't thrash it mercilessly, and keep the maintenance regular, and it's one of the most reliable bike you can buy. At 15k miles it's still a child.

But, all of the above depends on how the previous owner treated it. At 21,000 miles mine feels like a brand new bike in every way.

Thanks, from what I've seen that's definitely true.

No need though, as I just picked up my sweet new red VFR this past weekend! A happy day indeed. Drove 120 miles to Tucson to get it, well worth it. 03 w/ 5000 miles for $5300. Has fender eliminator kit and seat cowl. Basically a brand new bike.

Best of luck to you if you're still searching (post author). There are many deals to be found right now.
