DUDE! I must be getting old. A member found a post about me installing a 98-99 stator in my 01. I didn't even remember doing that. Anyway, other than the RR connector, the two are physically interchangeable, not 100% sure if output is identical. Here's the thread... http://vfrworld.com/threads/differences-in-stators.53182/

I work for RM Stator. We support VFR's in fact, we are making a video of the R&R process on my 1998 5th gen. (taking it on a 3,000 mile ride with my daughter in June-July) Shoot me your year make and model and I'll let you know if we make the stator and regulator / Rectifier for it. I know we make for the 5th Gen. . . .

In no way am I meaning to discount RM.... but in gross generalities, aftermarket stators and R/Rs have not done well on VFRs.
This site and the other (VFRD) are quite good with techy info and guru's on charging systems...
    Best wishes on your trip...

Thanks man! Really looking forward to it! 3200 miles! woot woot! Realizing now I may not ought to have company name dropped. That wasn't my intention for sure, other than just be helpful :) I've give some feedback on how the parts operate on my bike once we swap them. . .
