I don't know, but it sounds like you and others have been down this road already. That is a classic description of loose steering head bearings on any other bike I have experience with, especially with the mileage on the bearings if they are original - no, not high mileage, but maybe high enough. Someone ought to try the "Shucking the Shakes" procedure. I really think it can be fixed. So, you do have a negotiating subject - steering head bearing replacement (but really just the aforementioned adjustment procedure, not replacement).

    Get it anyway, though.

    Cheers,
    Glenn

Bit the bullet. Offer made. $1500 in light of damage, insurance claim for drop causing potential issues, and his claim that he needed to get an alignment.

Will let everyone know how it goes.

You might want to check with your local DMV to ensure that the bike can be plated (if it is not now). You could either not tell your insurance company and hope they do not find out (which they usually do by running VIN), or bite the bullet and tell them. I really don't envision any issues, however, doing ones homework is usually never a bad thing. That way, you have less surprises.

All this chit-chat.. Unless the headstock bearing is shot having a wheel and tire balanced at a shop should only be a few pesos if the wheel and tire are off the bike. This would also be an opportunity if you have a Honda dealer nearby to scope oot whilst you're there. They might be what you need and then again maybe not. Sometimes local non franchise aftermarket shops that sell tires can static and dynamic balance the assemblies.

IMO a good idea anyway you get it done. Static balancing is only one component of a wheel and tire combo. Bikes that are capable of well over the ton run tires that are rated to sometimes 150mph , the more accurate the balance the safer the ride.

Yep laced a spoke wheel or two on a DIY jig and tuned the spokes with a fork. Do Re Me Fa So La Ti Dude.

A title is issued on purchase of a vehicle. When same is paid for the owner has it as proof of ownership.. A salvage title will be dated differently and show clearly that it is what it is.

There's a shitload of examples on Google Images...."sample vehicle salvage title"

Congrats! At that price you could give it away and it would be less money lost than on a new bike! For me the head shake on a cruiser like you described was due to a low back tire pressure. It cause the rear end to wiggle and you felt it in the front. Aired it back up and no issues. it could be loose steering bearings though.
