this is a scam to pump his salary... just like he did with F1 3 years ago... everyone knows that SBK is for perennial 2nd-5th place finishers anymore. The golden days of Bayliss, Fogarty, Chili, Edwards are over... expect Edwards to be riding there next year (replacing Toseland who should go to BSB)

I wonder what Rossi makes... He's probably worth it. He sure rides like hell. Very smooth.

doubt that could happen given the riders salaries in WSBK
How Much Does it Cost to Race in MotoGP?

Ducati reported spent $10 million USD out-the-door for the 2008 WSB series, with “competitive” teams spending $5-6 million USD. WSB teams have around 20 people in their employ, with each rider having 5 dedicated pit members. Rider salaries can vary wildly. rookie rider Regis Laconi made a paltry $105,000 USD, while riders like Troy Bayliss and Max Biaggi command nearly $2 million USD. To put that in perspective again, MotoGP back-marker, Anthony West, raked in almost $800,000 USD last season while on the ZX-RR.

So Rossi makes more in salary (forget endorsements for now) than the ENTIRE Ducati WSBK 2 rider effort and the premier rider in the series - Biaggi - makes $2M (or 1/7th of Rossi's salary in MGP)
