Not that I wish any ill-will on you, but if bad things happen, I believe Scuba has all the appropriate colored sharpies.

What's the latest? Just made the drive to Glenwood for a weekend in the hot springs and was thinking of ya. Not of ya and the hot springs but about riding over the mountains.....

The debate rages on. My work schedule makes picking a day difficult. If I do choose to do it, are you going to meet up with me and ride all the way til I hit the SS mark? (1000mi) then head back towards your the next day?

I'm thinking of flying in on Thursday eve, getting bike on Friday then heading for the first part of the journey (map above). If I take Fort Collins out, then we have to make sure the back roads add in enough to hit the mileage. They are very picky about mileage and proof of it, etc. There's no way I'm doing this trip and not making the extra effort to get it, though.

I'll have to relook at your map when I'm on a real PC. I'd look at adjusting your route to hit Sterling on the east side of CO. Take state hwy 14 west through the Pawnee National Grasslands to Ft Collins.

Hwy 14 is one of the few canyons still open west of Ft Collins after the floods. Run that up to Walden and then there are a few nice open twisties and mountain passes that we can take back down to I70.

It's not really all that out of the way but should add the right combination of miles, scenery, and fun roads to keep you smiling.

I stand corrected. As of now, 14 is closed west of ft. Collins. But it didn't receive the damage that the other canyons got and should likely be open by then. If not, I have options :)

Ok, Jason offered to fly out and get the bike for just the cost of a ticket. That was the last straw. I couldn't stand the thought of someone else getting to do the ride.

Don't get me wrong I appreciated the offer, but that was what it took to push me over the edge to order a ticket. Time off be damned. I'm flying out Thursday. That's right, Thursday. I'll get the bike Friday and leave.

    This one's got my vote.

The mobile site doesn't want to allow me to move the thread to a cool new location though.

Before a new thread is started, how about a list of places Reg can get some of those fantastic Colorado Jo-jo's when he buys gas?

Please notice I say nice shit about their golf carts, scooters, their brief association with MV Agusta, Thier sale of old tooling and franchise rights to the Japanese in the 1920s, The Raymond Lowey design school for accepting Willy G , and a whole bunch of things that are HD but not including doo rags,HD TP, or some dentist who has a need to jump all bad on a Sunday when the weather is perfect, who then talks smack about any bike other that his HD for the next six days. The factory paint jobs are first class too.

The last one I rode was a 1955 K Model that a friend owns who also sells Harleys. I have custody of a KRTT that when it came out of the cosmoline was fired up and will become a museum display someday. The KR's, KRTT's and subsequent factory roadrace bikes are not in a sense any more assembly line Harleys than MOTO-GP Hondas are to streetbikes. Sort of like those bigass outboard engines that are built by Honda, Yamaha and Evinrude that the crackerbox boys lust for.

One might be led to conclude that from your user name there just might be a smattering of obsession there too eh?

well I did some checking and I'm able to fit my Aerostich Roadmaster inside a duffel bag so I'm going to load that up and then probably a backpack and that'll Be my carry-on. This trip will be light and fast. I hope to complete an iron butt ss1000 if I can hack it and/or the bb1500.
