I've only done this once before and it was earlier this summer and they were weak - ride under the Northern Lights.

If the forecast is correct, it could be quite the the "show". It was an amazing experience last time, and if they're as strong as they think they might be, then this could be a hell of a ride. I live rural so there isn't any light pollution and the roads that I rode last time were not lit and would make a perfect place to go again tonight.

Crossing my fingers and hope that the temperatures aren't too bad. I've got my heated grips and vest regardless ...

I'll try and see if I can get some photos or video, but it may be difficult without the proper equipment.

That would be cool to do and hopefully whatever camera equipment you do have will work. Good luck sir!

I'll do my best. I'll take my dSLR but it's been ages since I took long exposure shots

Good luck, the problem with alot of digital cameras is they don't have long exposures. Not the good old days of film cameras,

dSLR has long exposure. It's not a cheap little compact. Lolzz

I was thinking of my older $1800 Olympus dSLR which didn't go beyond 1 sec. Got my degree in photographic science at RIT back before digital imaging existed. (But after wet plates!)

This is Comet McNaught, captured in 2007 with my old Panasonic TZ1 camera on a tripod. No Southern Lights around here as I'm too far North.

Glad you enjoyed them! Look me up if you're ever in MB. It's the best place in Canada to catch them and it's a beautiful province!

Very Cool Jeff. I've seen the northern lights a couple times but catching them with your bike in the photo, now there's something special.

Yah. They are more common in January - February but we have a tendency to see them strong here in September every year it seems for at least a night or two.
