Here is an DMR F4i with modified fitting and longer hose to allow more options for the remote positioning of reservoir. I also opted for valving upgrade. Top notch work by Jamie D.

As installed on my '84. Note the hose fitting is angled up to allow for clearance over the coolant reservoir bottle.

jamie machined me some rear sets out of the kindness of his heart they moved my feet up and back i going to be moving the clip ons under the triples to get me lower on the bike but my worst problem is ground clearance i need a tail raiser & move the forks down in the triple. my poor header has been taking a beating. i'll be posting some pictures up of the rear sets

The rearsets sound like a great upgrade. Look forward to seeing the photos.

Regarding raising the bike - what is causing the clearance conflict – do the headers on the Hindle 4-1 project that far below/outside the chin cowl? I didn’t realize that this was an issue when installing this aftermarket exhaust system.

Also on this topic (as you note, sliding the fork tubes down in the triple clamp and raising the rear rider height) – how will you accomplish raising the rear height – will you be installing a different suspension linkage?

    Thx!

the hindle header does hang much lower than the stock unit and the when you start hammering on the bike well it some time drags as for the rear well i am hoping to get a tail raiser made so it would be a whole new rear link ( or dog bone)

I don't understand why the exhaust is dragging....you should have plenty of clearance.

I am curious about this too.

From other photos of Hindle 4-1's - I know that you have to cut out a bit of the right side of the chin cowl but I didn't know that when installed the Hindle 4-1's settle in below the line of the chin cowl.

On a side note - I have read that the Hindle system was made for the '84/'85 models but not for the '86 and as such the oil pan mounting points for this system need to be modified - this is due to the '86 having a deeper oil pan compared to the '84/'85...perhaps this contributes to the clearance issue on the '86?

Interesting thought. However, I can't see how you could modify the 86 pan to make the right fit up to the front manifolds and the rear pipes. I would think that you would have no choice but to use an older models pan. It is all pretty tight fitting.

Agreed, the owner of the '86 who mounted the Hindle 4-1 ended up switching the oil pan (and related sump & oil pump) to the earlier '84/'85, IIRC. On a side note - the '86 has longer stock headers to go along with the deeper oil pan. I found this out when considering switching to the '86 oil pan/sump/pump.

Of course it could be that Hindle did make an '86 set but from what I have read to date, this is not the case. Here is a photo of the Hindle mounting points on the pan. You can see how the Hindle needs to be year specific - i.e. one pattern for the '84/'85 and one for the '86.
