"Mouse over" on menus doesn't bring up a sub-menu

"Mouse over" on posts/links doesn't bring up a short preview

This has been fixed, if you are an Insider, you should no longer be seeing ads. If you do, please let me know.

And a special huge THANKS to all of you Insiders! That is what helped me pay for the new version of the software!

Realizing that I had taken this site for granted, I decided to become an insider. But alas, the only link I found was dead.

How do I become an insider?

actually, this is preferable to me because sometimes I browse from iphone so the click dropdown menus (our new style) are more smartphone friendly. You can click them on or off and never navigate away until you click an item where before it wouldn't work.

This page should be up within a day or so, and I'll be HAPPY to share the link with you. :) If you're very anxious, and brave, just click on "Settings" at the top right, then scroll down to Paid Subscriptions on the left. It will walk you through the process. Thanks for your support!

One thing that is nice about the new chatbox is that it's linked to the PM system, so whenever you send or receive a new PM, it will show you a message in the chatbox.

a couple things I have noted on them so far:
    1. A blog has an RSS button so if you subscribe to a blog, then you get RSS updates
    2. A blog belongs to a person so if you subscribe to their blog, you see whatever they type but only in their blog
    3. A message or thread can be subscribed to, but you are only updated on that specific message so if a new thread is started by the user, you won't be updated until you find it and follow it.

I'm sure there is more, but this is what I have noted so far. Where this is handy to me is that in my ride reports, I can do them as a blog and people who like to read them, get a heads up when I type it without having to search about. On my next distance trip, I'll even be able to blog it as we go and send pics from my iPhone.

    Now how cool is that?

oh, I got it Long. It was just a notice to let him know that you had sent a PM. No one else could see the notice except you and him. For instance, if I send a message in the pvt msg section to you, then I'll see a note in the chat box alerting me and you if you happen to be online that you just got a PM from me. It's just another heads up type feature. The new chat box allows pvt messages between users. If you want to send a pvt chat, you type: /pm <username> <message> or more specifically: /pm reg71 here is a message that only reg71 would see in the chat window.

Before it wasn't doing anything and now it takes me to the quick reply, I guess that's normal? How does one configure it to automatically go to advanced mode?

Just noticed something from frontpage on iPhone. The hypertext link in left column from your post bleeds across to right column. I think is probably a software glitch and not a setup glitch. I didn't notice it on the regular computer. Maybe we should have a mac user test it from safari.

I just went to leave a thanks for someone and noticed that we no longer have the option to leave thanks for people. Is this gone for good, just not available yet, or something I'm missing.

Keep up the great work guys. I'd leave you all a thanks but ... well... you get it.

    Mike,

I noticed that Bikes Owned are no longer listed under our avatar/photo when posting on the forum.
I hope this information gets put back in. I find it quite useful.

Now . . . I need to have another Egg Nog.

    Cheers

I could be wrong but I believe what is happening is that chat is showing ONLY you that a PM has been sent. If it is working correctly I believe that ONLY the recipient of the message will see they have received a PM via the chatbox as well.

Edit: Just tested this by sending a test PM to myself and watching VFRW on two machines at once. On the machine I was logged in on, I only received notification via chat that I had received a PM. On the machine where I was visiting VFRW as a guest and not logged in, I did not receive any notification of a PM being sent or received. Appears to be functioning in the way you would expect it to.
