Yep Honda must sure be kicking themselves, all that time and money spent in the wind tunnel. If only they had just removed that pesky windshield.......

Yea crazy Honda installing Double Bubble windshields on all their bikes from the factory.

Did you even READ this thread before posting?

You know what, don't bother to answer, it's clear you didn't.

I think this has to be a subconscious ergonomics thing. The double bubble is really long and tall, and if youre leaning forward on the bike, it should be right in your face. Without it being there, you wont feel like you have to pull your neck back to keep your helmet from hitting it, which would get your elbows bent and allow you a greater range of motion. Why is everyone mad at OP for saying something based on his own experience, when they havent tried it themselves. Also, I don't see what honda's wind tunnel results have to do with this. I don't think they ever tried the bike in the tunnel with the windshield off, because they always planned on having a windshield. For all we know, (since NONE of us are experts in this area) the bike is more aerodynamic without the windshield, and it's really only there as a stone guard and for rider wind protection.

I can confirm the following. When I took the front wheel off my vfr750, the handling really deteriorated.

Anyone remember why the speed limit was lowered to 55 during the oil embargo?
Tell me I don't have to spell it out.

Removed my drive chain yesterday, wow! Bike is so much smoother, fuel consumption has dropped to zero and chain maintenance is a thing of the past.
You need to try this, don't mock it unless you actually have.

Only downside is a slight decrease in acceleration and top speed.

Wow, great post Hellapet. Thank you for looking at my post logically.

I can tell you my body position has not changed. I actually looked out for this in particular when I put the windshield back on. Despite being a large windshield it is no where near my face.

Guys, think about it. Look at the shape below. Imagine holding a shape like this (a wood block with the dimensions of a slice of pie) outside of your car window while you drive, and now turn the tip left and right into the wind. Feel that resistance when you turn it? That is what I am talking about.

Edit: well the formatting didn't work but imagine a large triangle above.

Now turn this shape in the wind found below:

    Which one turns easier?

To everyone else it's clear removing the windshield is intimidating to you, and the best way to deal with that uncomfortable feeling, is sarcasm.

I think we all learned this as kids holding our hands out the car window and flying it up and down.

I have removed the windshield from the mach 1 91 several times. I am a sensitive guy and since that is so, no one here was sarcastic or tried to hurt my feelings. Come to think of it maybe it was because I didn't post it. Oh well, nevermind.

Come to think about it some more, I removed the windshield to polish it, then I put it back on the bike.

I can't remember all the details but there was this guy at one of the motorcycle meets that probably had a windshield on his bike but was riding with his face shield flipped up. He hit a bee or a wasp and it went up his nose. He will probably never be a bug collector after that. I figure if you see some dude on a sportbike or a sport tourer with one of those bigass windshields on it, it might be that same dude.

I have good coordination and when I was a kid I could do that flying out the window and drive my folks nuts by asking, "are we there yet?" while doing snap rolls and inverted flight with either hand. ;)

To be honest I was not sure if Swanky was a troll or just exceptionally stupid.

Then logic kicked in and I realised he is an exceptionally stupid troll.

Guys ride with whatever you like. If the OP make snow windshield, and he's comfortable with it, then that's his choice.

I bet that windshield goes back on the bike right after the dude gets caught in a downpour.
