I was thinking....man it is getting hot here.....next year, if Reggie is so kind as to host a spring SLO BBQ, we should make it a charity event. I am very much a supporter of the Unrelated Bone Marrow Donor Registry. It is international in scope. Run by the Canadian Blood Services in Canada and probably the Red Cross in other countries. What is to stop our brothers and sisters in Europe, down under, Africa and Asia from doing the same thing at the same time. This could be big.

Naturally if the California ride gets too big, we may be forced to find another venue and the usual's can stand at Reggies new urinal.

I have charities that I already support, like Rider's for Health and the Roadracing World Action Fund.

This used to be a crazy get together to ride fast, talk shit and get stewed with a few great people that I don't normally get the opportunity to hang out and ride with. For me personally, the original and legendary SLO rides will never be equaled. If it is now morphing into some sorta charity ride, then I won't feel any need to attend another one. I can do the same thing 20 minutes from my house just about every weekend.

 

I think Randys was trying to say that a good cause where money is actually used to help people in need and research for a good cause, not to pay auction fees and build safety fences....
If your main reasons for attending a get together is to ride fast, talk shit and "get stewed", Im sure you could check out www.squidrider.com for some support groups and gatherings. Other wise I rather save my riding fast for the track, shit talking for someone that deserves it, and getting stewed well maybe once a year but not a necessity for me to have a good time.

It was just a thought. I'm still going regardless if it is held. It is not my place to change things. Just to plant ideas, not all of which are agreed with, or doable for that matter.

 

It is an honorable idea. Like i said, if i don't feel that it works for me personally, i will not attend. Good luck with the cause.
