I hear you about the performance gains in having something new. My bike is still more bike than I need from a performance on the street standpoint. The "new" would wear off fast after dropping $10K - $12K on a fresh model. I'll add suspension to your list. While FI is nice, especially for tuning, I don't mind pulling that thing called a choke back on a cool morning.
All that said.... If you do your homework and decide to pull the trigger on this project, you will have my undivided attention for a few minutes each evening. Please document as it happens if you go for it!

What do you know about the weight of that wheel? I'd bet it doesn't do better than your stocker, although it looks the biz.

    Hmmmmm.
That kind of money could put another gen 4 in the stable.
This point in my life a Roth IRA is the better bet with that kind of coin.
    I know.... yawn.... how boring.

Have you spent any bucks on the suspension on your ride? That would be the first place to dump some $ into before you go bling. Its pogo stick just like the stock 5th boingers.

OEM 4th gen VFR750 5.0" rear wheel is 12 lbs. That is the same weight as my 5.5" Alloy Marchesini, so pretty darn good.

A few years back there was a rumor on the vfrmailinglist that someone there had put a Hawk GT spindle in their VFR750. I never really followed it up, so I can't verify if it worked or not - there was some speculation on both sides.

One other thing someone should try is a Triumph 955i final drive in their VFR800. I spent waaaay too much time comparing this stuff while doing mine, and the Triumph peice looks so much like the VFR's it's almost a cookie cutter copy. Bet it would fit right in.

BST will never make a wheel for the VFR, but you are welcome to put one of their Ducati wheels on...

Just got an email from a shop tech that works specifically on the NT and knows about the VFR as well. the short version is this ha-ha the NT650 is a nut wheel mount, but it's smaller in diameter as well as to short to be able to be used with any other wheel other than the NTs, all thou what was interesting is they have an up grade for the NT that uses the 4th gen hub so they can use the VFR wheel, go figure. Yep the 4th gen has a light rear wheel, in fact lighter than most. Ya just gota love the research..

I once was in discussions with them to do exactly that. It was more on the lines of - bring major money... I needed a commitment for 20 sets.

    Well - I can dream....

www.VSource.org is an excellent source of info. And don't forget to check out http://www.bikersoracle.com/vfr/forum/showthread.php?t=75729

I've seen Hawk GT's with 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gen. VFR wheels, along with Ducati wheels.

The NC30/35 rear spindle can also be modified to fit a VFR750/800 rear wheel, which is wider than stock.

If it is just about looks why not just put one of these covers on for less than $150 and not go through all the headaches... Not quite the bling of a real nut wheel setup but it does do a nice job of covering the lugnuts.

Many years ago, after Andrew (currently a federal fugitive) at American Superbike Racing screwed me over on a set of Dymag wheels and a spindle adapter, I went the Thurn route before having my wheels powdercoated gold.

So, RVFR, enquiring minds want to know, ever mount that bad boy. I understand that NC35 hubs will fit the VFR swingarm and give you instant one nut spindle. Any truth to that?
