Hopefully Honda come to the party at least with parts if not labor as other manufacturers do even if it IS just out of warranty especially as the noise had previously been reported to the dealer.

Mind stuff can happen to any manufacturer, was with a mate yesterday riding a new ( 3000miles ) Kawasaki Z750 on a day ride had to call into a luckily open country town Kawasaki dealer after it started making loud lawnmower noises. No biggy fortunately the header nuts had just loosened with 2 falling off completely, Mind it's the third time he's broken down riding with me on a Kawasaki last time 2 years ago was on a ZX-7R which dumped oil directly onto his back tyre after the front shaft seal suddenly gave out very lucky it didn't kill him when he lost the rear end at an intersection starting to accelerate on a Green light from stationary.

Also on yesterdays ride we stopped to help a guy who was pushing his band new BMW S1000rr in the middle of nowwhere, It was only 2 weeks old and he was still running it in when it went "CLUNK CLUNK bang" then ceased to function, he while sweating profusely in the Summers heat but at least was happy with BMWs 2 year free road side service as he was only pushing it a safe enough place for the already on the way recovery truck to pick it up from.

I've had bikes from all the Japanese makes (including Bridgestone) & couple of Beemer's & Guzzi's. There are a lot of people out there that would not buy a particular brand, based on personal experience or word of mouth. Fer instance, personally I would never buy a Ducati, my own bias, never trusted their reliability, yet lots of people swear by them. There is nothing worse than spending big money on a bike & have the buggers let you down, been their & done that. My last bike I had for 13 years, a Honda & apart from the reg crapping itself one rainy bloody Sunday... Anyway, the thing ran like a Swiss watch (& that was the main reason for choosing another Honda). But go on to the forum for my type of bike, & there where always heaps with running & handling issues. Personally I think that Japanese manufacturers & engineers are the best on the planet, but things sometimes do go wrong. The thing here is not the issue of whether this model bike is flawed, its a warranty issue, the problem was told to the Stealership prior to the warranty expiring & that's why I mentioned previously about an out of warranty consideration & this needs to be taken to the Honda distributor. The bullsh*t accusation about doing a wheelie is ludicrous & just the Stealership blowing smoke up your arse in the hope that you will just go away, how the hell would they prove this type of liability?. The fact that its going to cost you & arm & a leg to fix is probably the reason you should pursue it as far as you can. Do you guys have some sort of Fairtrade originisation?, if you do, then I bet that this particular dealers name would be already be in the system.
