do the VFR's tend to run hot faster.............
I just got one with a lil over 13k.....fluids just flushed.....
bike seems to just run hotter than any of the other 8 bikes iv owned.
do a lil stop and go and teh temps seem rise more quickly than im used to.
also...what is actually too hot for a vfr engine.
my gixxer750 and 03 R1 get up to and have not gone over 230...even in traffic.

    Update for those who care

I went ahead and added the auxiliary fan, since coolant flush seemed to have a limited affect. The fan owns! bike still gets hot if I'm ridin' in 100+ weather, but other than that, the fan keeps the bike a hell of a lot cooler. Found the thing on eBay for $30, does the trick quite nicely. Pix to follow sometime in the near future

+1 on most of the stuff already discussed here.

looks like you're running a pretty trick exhaust there... do you have any other mods done to the bike i.e. high flow filter/pod filters? open air box? anyways what im getting at is, is your bike your bike properly jetted? most bikes come pretty lean from the factory and even some stock bikes can benifit from a jet kit. with yours having an aftermarket(full?) exhaust you should go up a few sizes on the jets.

    lean equals extra heat...
too rich and youll foul out the plugs, wash the oil off the cylinder walls, waste gas etc...
    you want to be stoich.

+1 on what squirrel said. get your self a nice splif, a good cd, and go to town on that radiator. lol your bikes old enough to have a few drinks with us. its bound to have a lot of bent fins and grime all over that radiator by now...

I found that a plastic zip tie works well as a radiator fin straightening tool. Won't cut into the foil, and slides nicely.....Just a FYI.....

I've been taking a razor blade to the radiator fins in bits and pieces every time I'm workin' on the bike  I do need to see about the air-feul mixture though; I'm runnin' a K&N filter (came with the bike) and there are holes drilled into the airbox... I didn't do that. I know it's runnin' rich, I just gotta take time to fine-tune it all

naw bro... full 4 into 1 exhaust, kn filter, drilled out air box... unless you've got a stage 3 dynojet kit, you are lean. you are getting alot of extra air into that bike and exhaust out of it. you need to have additional gas to keep the stoich ratio. if you still have factory jets, still shimmed at factory height, you are hella lean right now! this would explain why your bike is running so hot. if you were rich, it would be running a little cooler than normal...

Hi, let me say a word. Our VFR is one of the best bike ever made but has one of the hottest engines ever made (we DO NOT want to admit it !). Sure, you have to change coolant, to clean fan blades, to clean rad...etc...but when you live and drive in warm countries (i.e. here in southern Italy temp. ranges between 25 and 30 °C during six months) and your bike has many thousands of km (or miles, as you prefer) the only thing to do is to install a manual switch to activate fan before engine begins too hot.
    Ciao, and Lamps to everybody.
    Carmine
