Purchase Issue with member meangene

I made a deal with a forum member, meangene, for a pair of side fairings & mirrors for my 5th gen as well as some internal fairing pieces. I sent him $225 LAST AUGUST & I still haven't gotten the items. He mostly ignores me but will respond occasionally with "I'm so sorry, they're in my garage packaged up, send me your address again", etc.*

I wasn't in a hurry to get them but this is ridiculous. Anyone in the Houston area care to drop by & see what's up? I can PM his address....

 

You didn't use PayPal? If I don't recognize the name of the forum member (regardless of the forum) I alway use PayPal. I had to get them involved once on a Helibar purchase off the classifieds here.

Well that sucks, never seen his name before----first off I would let Michael know about the fraud on this web site.. and fer sure hunt this guy down. Hopefully someone will give him a visit for you...with a base ball bat of course after they retrieve said items. FREEKIN THIEVES--------:chaingun:

Common folks. Is there someone in the Houston area that will drop by this guys address to help out a fellow VFRWer. I know I would.

I think I would be inclined to cruise by there a few times and grab some licence plate numbers and vehicle descriptions first though. You may not be able to do anything with these, but it won't hurt to have them. You can also eye the place up for activity should you show up there and no one comes to the door.

I know it is only $225.00 but that would burn my ass too.

$225 is alot of money to just lose like that. Do a reverse address look up from his phone #.

BTW. Mean Gene Kelton was a musician and a fixture with his band the Die Hards at biker rallies in the Houston area. He died in a car crash in 2010. SO this may give you some idea of what kind of person you are dealing with.

 

I got burned a ways back and just had to put it behind me and delete the PM's and move on. Sucks and I hope people like this rot in hell but what are you gonna do short of going postal? Good luck boss.

 

funny, he must have gotten some heat from somebody here, because I got a text from him last night asking for my address, again.

If it was paid for using PP, you only have 45 days from the date you sent payment to file a claim.

If you used your CC, you *MIGHT* be able to request a charge back, although limitation is usually between 90 and 120 days.

Sorry to hear about this, I'd go knock on the guys door for you if I lived in that neck of the woods.

 

I sent him a PM and told him to live up to his commitment or refund the money.

 

I think Rabbit's initial post said he was asking if anybody in the Houston area was willing to drop by to possibly help Rabbit out.

I don't think it matters if it was $50 or $500. IMO, Rabbit is a good guy, participates on the forum, blah blah blah. If we can't help out a fellow member, what good are we?

 

The dude is probably reading this thread as we speak and devising all sorts of excuses, apologies ect. What he doesn't know is that he has a contract on him to be carried oot by the Fantucci Bros, Carlo and Giovanni who were from Jersey and now live in Houston.
