Almost halfway done stripping the bike down to just the engine & frame. I may pull the flywheel/Stator and clutch assembly while the engine is still in the frame. I figure it may be more stable to work on that way.

Any tricks or tips from the VF engine experts on Flywheel and Clutch removal ? I have the 2 tools here (flywheel puller/bolt and the clutch socket tool), I assume ill have to hold the flywheel somehow when removing it (ie threading the puller in), whats the easiest way to do that without the Honda "holder" tool mentioned in the manual?

IN A PINCH, remove as much as possible on the clutch side exposing the crank and clutch gears. Tie a shop rag in a knot and let it bind the gears the direction you need.

I use a wedge shaped piece of hardwood on the rear sprocket / chain for similar stuff like tightening / loosening counter shaft sprocket bolts.

    OK, thanks Cap'n

May have to put the rear wheel back in if need be.

I used a piece of an old leather belt in the gears when I did my Suzuki RGV250, it was eating the shop rags like crazy. So at least I know I can use the same principle

Bastard. Gonna get nicer down here in WA, but it's gonna be cold (relatively). Mid 40s. Friday afternoon looks nice, but is pretty much dark by the time I get the bike out now.

    Enjoy!

When I finished repairing the damage to the front forks and damper rods

I managed to get in an hour of riding before it got dark and it was 15 degrees

    Amazing for November

Was out 6 hours today, high was 22C, took the CBF1000. Short ride again tomorrow. Longer ride Tuesday to north shore of Lake Erie for some perch and pickerel lunch. Actually no reason not to ride the whole week.

Weather tuning back to shit again, and I filled my deer tag, so I got some shop time in today. Here's a couple of progress pictures, I elected to remove the clutch, starter clutch, flywheel, stator etc while the engine was still in the bike, figured it would be easier. hope to have the rest of the gears and shift linkage removed tomorrow, along with the pulsers.

Whats the best thread locking stuff to use on re assembly. Red or Blue ?

Manual calls for "thread locking agent" on several bolts (starter clutch bolt and others), but does not specify red or blue

I would not use red, especially Permabond red

That stuff requires 550 degrees F to break the lock, I would stick with blue, but not all threadlockers are colour coded, so I would just go with a medium strength one
