    I thought it had to do with the "natural protection" your brain will put out for your dominant side, i.e., if you are right handed, you will naturally turn slower and more guardedly on right turns....

    I like the LEFTs way more than the RIGHTs and prefer them with some uphill mixed in. I am right hand dominant (RHD in medical shorthand).

    Just another thing that comes to mind also. seems I do better with being able to see a good line ahead of me. Blind corners, thou I play it safe just feels like I'm more tence , ready for that unexpected thing which plays into how one attacks the corner. Bring on a good tight sweeper were I can see like 100 feet plus, Ill be in a happy place..aspecially when there's one after another.

    I've always wondered why folks report a preference or difficulty w/turns. I've never noticed a difference, but have been asked by many about problems with one turn or another.

    Either I'm too dumb to notice, or I have forgot that time in ancient history when it was a concern to me!:wink:

    Lefthand turns you can usually see more of the turn opening up to the rider, but stay on your side of the yellow line!

    I seem to handle left hand corners much better... bein' a lefty I guess. I'm just more comfortable that way I reckon

    This has always bothered me!

    Have always been wondering if it is RHD or right side of the road??!!
    I'm cake in the RH turns and slow and tremulous in the LH turns.
    Visual? Run-off? Habit? Brain function?
    It sounds like others are opposite of myself.
    Right bloody interesting.
    Brits and Aussies sound off. (do they ride on the left in India?)
    (And we are the biggest GB colony of all-time. Why don't we ride on the
    left side? Did Lafayette straighten us out?):confused::confused:

    i though i was equally comfortable in both, but i went out today a scraped my right toe so i guess that answers that. i also prefer uphill.

    Having discussed this with Keith Code, in class with the others classmates. Here's the run down. First thing is the tyre is going to wear more on the left(in countries that drive on the right)for two reasons. 1- The crown of the road. 2- The fact that it's longer to go around a left hand turn, than a right...... Foot drag.. You will usually have your left foot out more from shifting gears, where the right pretty much just goes foward and back to use the foot brake....... Up or down hill, Going up you pretty much just use the throttle and gravity to slow you down. Going down hill you have to work with the throttle and front brake at the same time, which takes more hand control skill...... Left or right turns, when you make a left hander you're leaning left so you're pushing on the left grip, and have a light touch on the right(throttle)grip, which in turn allows you better control of the throttle... But in right turns you're trying to control the throttle while leaning towards/on it........
    So to control these unwanted inputs.... There is the need to not put weight on the grips, by relaxing your arms/shoulders, and supporting your upper with your abs/and back as well as gripping the tank with your knees......
    I still have to work harder to control my rights, and my down hills.... Just because I know what the cause is, doesn't mean I've been able to over come them..... Practice, practice, practice.... Monk

    is it possible that the suspension acts a little different going downhill than up? i would think that there might be less weight on the front going down while accelerating out of a turn.

    Yes, it does act different jay.

    Before riding on the track, I liked lefts more, but I've had to get over that mental block about rights.

    I still like lefts, but there is no difference in tire wear on either side of the tires. When I hang off to the right my body is altered a little different becasue I have to press on the bar, then roll on the throttle. I'd say that's the only difference now. That and some days I might have problems relaxing going to the right.

    It's all a mental thing boys and girls.

    I'm not the type to drag a toe (or knee), but I'm right handed and feel more comfortable in left turns. However, my rear tire shows otherwise - its definitely worn more on the right.

    Maybe that's just another point about how its all in the head...
