For the most part political and religious debates can offer some stimulating conversations and sometimes heated arguments, but one thing's for sure they hardly ever change anyone's opinion on their stance. The one thing that I do truly believe is that there should be a separation of church and state and any candidate who tries to reverse that, I will not vote for. I'm not anti-religious, I just believe these two should not be tied together.

    My two cents.

The biggest single political coup Repubs have been able to pull off is convincing the average working schlub that they are in his corner fighting for him.

I couldn't agree more. It wasn't until 1954 that we had to say "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance.

Oh this is a good one. People don't understand separation of church and state either. The church was always involved in state and the country was formed based on religious principles. The separation comes from the state not being allowed rule on matters of the church as had been happening in the old world. I.e religious persecution etc. it was never believed that government should be Godless as the church is the moral compass.

Anyone who tries to equate conservative, Christian voters with Islamic fundamentalists is a total moron. - When was the last time you saw Christians beheading non-believers on the internet?!

Obama is the weakest, worst president the USA has ever had; more useless than Jimmy Carter. Of course, the fact that he is a Muslim and hates White people may have something to do with it.

Far from healing any kind of racial divide, Obama has deliberately caused further antagonism among Whites and minorities. This is the standard MO for Democrats, of course.

Obama has spent the USA into oblivion. It will never recover.

Oh, to the guy who called George W. Bush a monkey: he still had more class than the First She-Baboon currently spending millions of taxpayer dollars on taking her friends on round-the-world vacations.

Well now sir....that is an opinion...a morally wrong one in my ahem..."opinion"(now I just pray that Tinkerin and Bubba don't start throwing bibles at me).

I am sure you know that who first used that metaphor (separation of church and state).....good ole Tommy J (Thomas Jefferson). to assure those Danbury Baptists, that mean ole Mr. State would not mettle in their affairs. I am also sure that you know that "separation of church and state" is not even in the constitution. Many peeps are not aware of that....and/or have many other misconceptions from that famous scratch of parchment (sorry stoners, it was not made from hemp....though some of the drafts may have been). In many peoples minds it is though.....the confusion for many lies in the wording of the establishment clause ""Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." A current day interpretation is that nothing may say God, in any form, relate to Government, when as you may have been alluding to, it was our fore-fathers fear of history repeating itself with a state denominational church based what happened in European history and the reason the pilgrims came here.

Well I sure would be uncomfortable with Pastor Biily Bob having the authority arrest me for drinking bourbon and doing the lucky me dance.

That slippery slope should be avoided at all costs.

There's even one school of thought that calls the current green movement a state sponsored religion, since it bears many of the earmarks.

As Drewl would say..... Here we go into the woods with the headlights off!!!

Yeah, maybe this was a bad idea. For some odd reason, I just was curious of what people on here thought (motorcyclists), and if we differed from the (ab)normal folks.

    Ok, who here likes Pizza?

Voted for hope, voted for Oblamma, but he's a wimp, tool of Wall Street and a total puppet of the power elite !

Fantastic interest in this generally unpopulated thread with
lotsa OPINIONS, most well educated and thoughtful.

Squirrelman, before he loved squirrels, attended an FBI-informer-infiltrated Communist Party USA meeting in 1962 as an idealistic university idiotic freshman and has FBI files on record from that day. Marched with MLK in Chicago, first arrest civil rights 1963 sit-in at real estate office that would not rent or sell to Afro- Americans. Next arrest 1964, demo against HUAC in sophomore college year in Chicago.

Cuz i have a long radical eccentric history dating back to 1962, with pages of FBI files cuz i supported radical causes and was active in opposing the absurd Vietnam war and believe it makes no sense to aid North Korea and punish Cuba.

Cuban people who believe in revolutionary improvement of their formerly-colonialist society should be helped, not sanctioned, and yes, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara are HEROS of mine, and Cuba is no more repressive than any Chinese party member's ass we kiss every day. Cuba has far more respect for religious traditional Catholic (delusionary) worship than China, so why respect them less? Miami reactionary Cuban's CIA control of pandering US politicians and outdated US foriegn policy is for no good and stupid.

And that's why Squirrelman dare not opine further on "politics" lest his government subversive FBI file expand unnecessarily !

However, i'll never vote again as O'Blamma caved in to Wall Street and conventional, failed, absurd capitaistic corruption. Sadly, as long as unregulated US-style capitalism prevails, no human advancement can happen anywhere.

See, you got me started, an i been drinkin'!

Now, next poisonious political subject: I hate Israeli politics and US complicity in the Israeli racist regime. Palestinians deserve their human rights and are not 1930s USA niggers. Occupation of land won in war is against international law, so why is Israel exempt and why does US support oppression ? Why, becuz extreme right-wing evangelistic Christians and Zionist Jews believe in resurectionistic and apocolyptic stupidity that has total control of US congress through lobbiests and campaign contributions (legalized bribery !). Absurdity and hypocracy reign eternal ! Where do you think the next in our series of wars will begin ?

Never shoulda got me started !!
