Last ride I went on, I stopped at a popular ice cream/snack joint in a well known motorcycle area. This joint has a gravel parking lot. I rolled in wearing full leather from head to toe & parked next to a squadron of 6 squids. Not one of them was over 19 & all were on 600's, 4 GSXR's, a ZX & a CBR. Only one bike didn't have obvious signs of damage. As one would expect, the ONLY piece of riding gear these no-talent-assclowns were wearing was a helmet. As I took my helmet & jacket off, they threw a couple of snide comments about my choice of ride, choice of gear, etc... Being the typical New Jersey jerk that I am, when I am confronted, I confront right back, bigger & better. They asked how I could possibly wear all that stuff & I didn't pull any punches & told them that each & every one is a complete idiot for NOT wearing all that stuff. When they realized they couldn't intimidate me, they lost interest & prepared to roll out.

One of them dropped his bike turning it around in the parking lot.

The best part was his "friends" didn't wait for him & left him there to pick up his bike. I laughed in his face as I helped him pick up his bike. It is quite fullfilling to have someone inadvertantly prove your point while proving what a retard they are. I hate squids.

Hey, Danimal! Thanks for the mental prod. The thinking part usually happens by itself; it is the misplacement of the facts that snags me in the backside.:smile:

In retrospect, I cannot even remember where my information and/or impressions came from. Probably had something to do with all the girls beating me up in my youth...

Lets see, some of the things the little turds said included:
"Check out the douchebag in full leathers."
Mind you, this is coming from 6 teens wearing jeans, Vans shoes & t shirts, that's it. Considering we were in PA, I'm surprised the idiots were wearing helmets.

"What's that thing weigh, 600lbs?" Referring to the VFR of course. If he thinks I weigh 600lbs, I need to go back & beat him down.

"HOLY SH$T, he's wearing ear plugs." As I took my helmet off of course. When I took the Windex wipes out from under my seat to clean my faceshield, I heard, "What else does he have on that thing?"

Like everyone here knows, I have no time or tolerance for squids so I cut the situtation short by going on a counter-offensive. In no uncertain terms, I let them know what I thought of them & their choice of riding gear. One of the little pinheads threatened me with violence (mind you, this is in front of at least 100 people at a popular ice cream joint) & I told him he could make the first move & I would be more than happy to embarass him in front of his "friends" & all the other riders present. They lost interest once they realized that I was not an easy target. The fact the one that threatened me is the one that dropped his bike is icing on the cake. As I was laughing in his face helping him pick his bike up, I asked him who the idiot was now? The fat old guy in full leathers on a touring bike? Or the stupid punk douchebag who can't even leave a parking lot without hurting himself? He was beat red from head to toe when he finally managed to leave the parking lot.

The single worst thing about the whole situation was listening to the HD guys after the squids left. A few of them came up to me to remind me how stupid us sport bike riders are. Like I needed that, right?

Fat Old Guy On A "Touring" Bike - 3

    Squid Idiots - 0

    I freaking rule.

 I like that story. Based on that you should avoid Miami at all costs. It's literally squid capital. I went down there a couple days ago on a little vacation and I was the ONLY one there wearing full gear. I saw some guys only wearing a helmet with t-shirt, flip-flops, and shorts. When I was on I-95 some guy on a CBR blew by me LANE SPLITTING at over 90 mph!!! I may like driving fast but that's just insane.

Since the helmet is not legally required I saw quite a few guys on sport bikes and harleys with the only "protection" being sunglasses. No wonder why bikers are getting a bad reputation down in florida.

Based on what I can see and find out he hit the truck head on and ended up under the rear wheels of the truck. There is a lot of impact damage to the hood of the truck and the bike is a complete mess thrown of to the side. About all you can recognize of the bike is the engine block everything else is gone. Hard to do that much damage without speed being a factor. Not a lot of other information available.

I wear all protective gear, but am about to receive my first set of leather pants via UPS next week. Got the AGV Sport sportrider pants. I am not looking forward to comments by young punks like that, but of course, I tend not to frequent places like that and if I did, I would wear my DG defender jeans anyway.
On thing that is pretty cool about Tucson is that everyone is fairly friendly to each other and many sportbikers here wear at least helmet, jeans, gloves and often some type of riding jacket.

Nonetheless, I liked reading about how you handled things.

Yeah, I'll second that about Tucson. So far I have not had any overt comments about wearing full gear but then again I do not mix too much with the super-sport crowd. I do see lots of unprotected riders...they just don't lip off at me.

    Isn't wearing that hot
Isn't it a pain to but all that on.
Why do you take up so much of the work room closet.

Also endure the..oh you ride a sport bike looks and comments.

Ahhhh...nice to see the Karma Police working their regular shifts.

They've busted me a few times in the past too; they are very unforgiving.

And that cruiser rider, that retarded comment alone should automatically re-instate my "Who Hates Harley Davidson" thread!

    Thanks KC!

Dude, this is sooooooo true. During the week I was trained to be a sport bike coach, there was construction on underground piping adjacent to the motorcycle range on KWRI. At least once a day, one of the construction workers would ask, "Doesn't anyone on McGuire ride a Harley?" All 7 of us had a standard answer: "Only the stupid people."

haha, the people at work are just wondering not being rude.

As for those who are down on sportbikes, i don't care. I laugh because i don't understand why one would pay more for a louder bike that burns more gas but has less power and handle like a shovel. They have already shown that there more about image than fuction and may not be the brightest bulb.
Does not mean there not nice people. Just special in a way that does not let them park close at walmart.

Molsan don't feel like the Lone Ranger on that one. I hear it from some of the jag offs I work with. Because it's something they don't understand/enjoy, it's stupid. It gets me fired up.

But we understand why. When you see squid after squid go bye with no gear people will ask why you have it.
When a sportbike tears past you at twice the limit on one wheel you rember that, not the guy on the red bike doing nothing of intrest. I think that may be why some members here feel such frustration towards newer riders.

On I80 today, I actually witness a R6 bounce off the side of a car while lane splitting. He never even slowed down. In fact, he floored it & was out of sight in seconds. I'd be willing to bet a paycheck that the people in the Saturn will remember that for years.

After being in Kommiefornia for over a week now, I NEVER want to hear anyone say NJ drivers can't drive. Our WORST drivers are better than most out here. I am absolutely shocked at how bad KA drivers are.

KC-10 got a joke and as odd as it is i thought of your avatar.(yes i know not a c-130)

A C-130 was lumbering along when a cocky F-16 flashed by.
The jet jockey decided to show off.

The fighter jock told the C-130 pilot, 'watch this!' and promptly went into a barrel roll followed by a steep climb.

He then finished with a sonic boom as he broke the sound barrier. The F-16 pilot asked the C-130 pilot what he thought of that?

The C-130 pilot said, 'That was impressive, but watch this!'

The C-130 droned along for about 5 minutes and then the C-130 pilot came back on and said: 'What did you think of that?'

Puzzled, the F-16 pilot asked, 'What did you do?'

The C-130 pilot chuckled. 'I stood up, stretched my legs, walked to the back, went to the bathroom, then got a cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun.'

    ^^^^^^^^^^
    Word.

There is something to be said about having:
16 or 75 seats with tray tables (depending on configuration)
1 or 2 fully service lav's with running water & toliet paper holders (depending on configuration)
    2 ovens
    2 fridges
2 coffee holders 2 gallons each
    1 coffee maker
    a sink
    4 bunks
enough fuel for 23 hours of flight or the ability to fly 1000 miles, offload 200000lbs of fuel & fly back 1000 miles

The KC-10 rules & so do I.
