I did not have the benifit of sound but I don't think that makes any difference. I saw a couple oddities in the driving of the bikes but nothing horrendous. Certainly worthy of a traffic stop though. ANd every one makes a mistake from time to time. But this is a big fucking mistake that should not have happened. I doubt that the officer intended to do this but the fact is he did. And he must be accountable for his actions. Now it is up to the couts to decide what his fate will be. He doesn't just face the criminal court, there will I am sure, be a civil action brought against him as well.

I too have seen officers that really should not be officers. And in this politically correct day and age, we are seeing even more. It is up to the brass to weed these people out and make sure we have the best possible people out there doing this line of work. When you go to a surgeon, you want the best. Why would you differ with someone you want to protect your family and property.

Makes me really mad!! That guy stopped and was waiting -then the cop shot him.
We have got to get these kind of cops off the force. DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sick and tired of this. That cop is a real coward. Shot the guy in the back.
I am really afraid of the police these days. They are trigger happy Mo#@%$&'sss

Paralized from the waist down!!!! I hope that city has to pay that guy the REST OF HIS LIFE!!!

And I hope the cop is sleepless the rest of his life !!!!

WOW! Ok he may have taken off a little fast but he stopped within a few seconds of seeing the lights and sirens. There is no justification for the officer to shoot him while sitting still and looking back waiting for instruction. He probably couldn't hear what the officer said with the siren blaring in his ear either. If anyone needed a TASER, it would be the other rider who jumped the curb trying to get away. To add insult to injury the officer lifts the bike off the man probably adding to his injury. His left leg is still immobile on top of the bike and you can hear him scream with pain. He told the officer that he was paralyzed and couldn't move; that is clearly heard on the tape. This act is sickening... Is this the future of law enFORCEment? I know a few LEO's that I believe would never act in this manner and shoot first before assessing the situation. I have nothing but respect for LEO's because the job they do requires split second decision making skills and excellent situational awareness. I believe this officer is lacking on both fronts...

I never said & will not say anything about what happened. My opinion on traffic cops is well known so there is no reason to go over that again.

What I meant is this thread will eventually break down to insults & stupidity.

    KC-10 FE out...

From what little is seen on the vid ...I dont know...is it just me or did that look for all the world like an accidental firearm discharge? If that was the case how very sad for all involved. Didnt look like the cop was carrying a Glock.

Im sure all kinds of things will come out at trial that we arent privy to here. Who knows? That guy has a history, those two have a history, there's no history, cant really say.

I cant make the call based on what I see there but it doesnt look good for Johnny Law. I would have to excuse myself from that jury pool.

All I can say is that is one tragic incident.....for everyone involved.

BTW....everyone seems to be behaving themselves pretty well on this thread so far.

Glad I'm not a traffic Natzi & with the same poor judgement as that cat. I'd be out of ammo shooting soccer moms on cell phones and twits that think a turn signal is optional half way on the way to work, let alone my patrol shift.

not very much of a pursuit.

As for his BAC, well, tests can come back wrong. Had a local officer here try to get someone being DUI after a wreck. Hospital lab screwed up, said it was over 1% (not .1, but 1) - he would of been dead! Cop still tried to charge him with that.

Not all cops are bad, but they are getting worse. With cities being so short on money, cops are another way of bringing in revenue. I know, I know, that whole quota thing doesn't exist, but you just gotta woner, why are more and more cities going to these stop light cameras, and issuing citations for 5 over. I mean, really?
