Aren't the kR and the CBR600F rims both 2.5" wide? If I could ask, what do you need the machine down on the kR rim? Also, will the CBR600F's rotors mount onto the kR rim?

On a side note, would you mind posting the overall fork length for the 500 versus the Hurricane 600? I know the Hurricane forks are shorter, curious to see by how much. Thx!

Big3 I got them from summit racing, they are super trap external disc tips, I think they are $50 a piece. Invisible cities, they are both 2.5 but what I have to do is machine the disc monts on each side down about 5mm, it should be 5.5 but I am using 1000r rotors and they do not have the paper washers behind the disc like vf or f1 do. f1 or vf500 discs DO NOT fit!!! You could do some tricky machining and they could, this is why I changed forks, the f1 are close to the kr disc diameter. I am also changing the vf500 axle to fit the f1 forks, it will be easier than try ing to find bearings and a new speedo drive. I new I forgot something... I will post fork comparisons soon.
    Thanks,
    Brad

Thanks Brad. Great info. I'm looking forward to your post on the fork comparison as well. Should help to answer a few questions for owners interested in wheel conversion options for the VF500F.

Have you given more thought to the tire selection? Are you going with radial or bias ply?

I currently have Avon Roadrider tires on my CBR600F rims ( http://vfrworld.com/forums/1st-2nd-generation-1983-1989/30852-vf500f-cbr600f-wheel-conversion.html ) though I am giving some thought to trying Bridgestone BT-003 or Avon Azaro-St tires for the next round.

Ok, got the front wheel back, had the tire mounted ended up going with avon road riders, had them on a previous bike and worked well, I know you run them invisable. The modified vf500 axle wont work so I changed to f1 bearings and axle, waiting on the axle though. Mock up of as it sits now. hopefully be starting tank soon.

Interesting build. Everyone loves these threads and appreciates the effort it takes to post pics, etc. Thanks.

There has been almost no talk about the motor, carbs, etc. Other than painting the head covers, etc. have you done anything else to inspect and rebuild? How much mileage is on the motor?

Looks like you're making some head way. I'm sure it's an optical illusion but the front wheel looks awfully close to the front valve cover even w/o the fender and no weight on it. Will you be trimming up the tail any or is this the final shape? Keep it up.

Thanks Matt! Michael I havent done anything to the motor/ carbs, I am not that great with that end of it, since the exhaust is differant a good carb cleaning and rejetting is a must. The bike aparently ran great when it was put up last year. Every thing internaly looked prety good ex cams, clutch ect, ect. Hopit, the front wheel is a bit closer I will uncap the forks when the rest of the body work gets here to see were they need to be, but the 600 forks are only like a inch shorter. The tail section is staying that big, and to think that is for a 1985 honda rs 250!!!! Got the front end wraped up, if you were keeping score that was vf500 triples, 600 f1 forks, brakes and clipons, vf1000r wheel with brake rotor mounts machined down 5mm with 1000r rotors with 600 f1 bearings, axle and speedo drive. All mounts up perfectly. Wrinkle painted clutch cover, painted and mounted modified F1 front fender.

Looking good. I have a hunch that the fender to rad/engine clearance may be too tight at full fork compression. All should work out though as you can slide the tubes down, based on how you have mounted the clip-ons. Please keep us posted on the progress. I am looking forward to seeing how this all comes together.

Thanks dutchworx! It all is hanging under it own power now! All that was needed was to add about 2 inches to the bottom of the lower to widen it, and some trimming here and there. windscreen came in here it is all mounted, this may be the last post till its done, hopefuly that will be soon. Will you be running this on the street? Curious about the headlight, taillight, directionals, etc.

How is the fender to radiator/engine clearance?
