    Hang on here...
This link takes me to a close-out for the RF-1200 Cruise helmet (black or red), for $379!

So I got another new brain bucket. Waited until the price dropped though. Significantly IMO, what was an $899-$949 helmet is now $479-$549. I ended up buying a Schuberth SR1 from Revzilla. I really liked it when it came out but the price was extremely steep when it was initially released, not that the current price is considered "affordable" to most, but I couldn't pass it up. I missed out on other close out specials so I jumped on this one.

I bought this as my track helmet and considering that Schuberth calls it a race helmet, and it does seem a bit more suited for track/racing than a daily street helmet. Besides I have my Shoei or C3 Pro for street riding. Anyway, I rode with it on Sunday to test it out and have to say I am very impressed with it. For starters it is very light, it has a really snug fit, good ventilation when upright and better when in the tuck position. Similar to their other helmets the sound level and wind noise is very minimal and there's a ear port on the sides of the helmet that you can open/close to allow more or less sound though.

Two things that really stood out for me was the optics of the face shield. Even with the 50% smoke face shield and pin-lock lens I added it was really hard to tell I was looking through a face shield, let alone two layers of plastic! The other thing that impressed me was the aerodynamics of the helmet. Doing head checks at speed I didn't feel any tugging/pulling come from the wind. This alone was a win for me, as this is one area that I really feel is important to me. Although this is considered a race helmet, I dont see any reason why you couldn't wear it for street riding, with the exception that the snug fit, does make it a little more difficult to put on and take off.

Storm troopers new look... Nice. I've never heard of these before, but then when you don't need a new helmet and you're satisfied with what you have yea. ok Yours actually looks the shape of the Arai I got, less the graphics. The Arai too is tight to get off and on, but once on it's great, thing is now that I have a few miles with it I'm noticing it's nosier, probably due in part to the excellent venting than the old Shoei I have, so I wear the Shoei for the street, Arai for the track, that and the Arai is the latest snell, why I ended up with it where the Shoei wasn't allowed because of that.

Same here - had a Quantum back in '99, and with my renewed riding love bought a Signet-Q this summer. Q stands for 'Quiet', but on that aspect Arai got some more work to do...
