I don't know what else I can do but to spoon feed you the info. I gave you the link to the PDF manual. The test is on page 15-6. However here goes the procedure straight from Haynes:

    1. To reach the R/R unit, remove the seat and either the left side cover or the rear fairing, according to model.

    2. Connect the (-) negative probe of a mulit-meter to a suitable ground (earth) point then switch the ignition switch ON and carry out the following checks:

    3. Set the mulitmeter to the 0-20vdc setting then connect the meter positive (+) probe to the red/white terminal of the wiring connector and check for voltage. Full battery voltage should be present. Switch the ignition OFF.

    4. Switch the mulitmeter to the resistance (ohms) scale. Disconnect the wire connector from the r/r unit and make the following test on the wire harness side of the connector. Check for continuity between the green terminal of the wiring connector and ground (earth) then check the resistance between the yellow terminals of the wiring connector. There should be continuity between the green terminal and ground (earth) and a resistance reading of 0.1 to 2.0 ohms should be obtained between each pair of the yellow terminals of the wiring connector.

    5. If the above checks do not provide the expected results check the wiring between the battery, r/r and alternator.

    6. If the wiring checks out, the r/r unit is probably faulty. To check the unit, unplug its wire connector and remove it from the machine. Using a mulitmeter set to the appropriate resistance scale, check the resistance between the various terminals of the r/r. If the reading do not compare with those shown in the table, the r/r unit can be considered faulty.

NOTE: The use of certain multimeters could lead to false readings being obtained. Therefore, if the above check shows the r/r unit to be faulty, take the unit to a Honda dealer for confirmation of it's condition before replacing it.

Try this out. Let me know if you need something else.

Guys, I would give up. This guy is ignoring you all when you are trying to be helpful. He has all of the info that he needs. He only needs to pay attention, read and search. Only thing you didn't do is drive to his house and do it for him. You better get that spoon ready.

Then again, if you have nothing better to do than waste time repeating yourself over and over, knock ya self out.

I would disagree, we have all tried to be helpful in your many posts, and in chat. If you dont follow the directions, we cant help. To simplify your life (and ours), replace the rectifier and stator and move on. They are $115 each at wiremybike.com best of luck

Good one 2'wheel. I was crying reading that. :pound:

What's worse; someone over at VFRD is probably pissing themselves, or go4, the famous birdseed, deepdish?

This thread might need to be a sticky we can refer all newcomers with RR issues to.

Since you are "mechanic" do you test a car altenator with the car running or just in the on position?

All these posts have told you how to do it. some tests are with it running some with it just set to on, some are with it completely taken off the bike.

    WOW............

Guy seriously most mechanics are NOT dragons, go in to a local one >I'd suggest you trailer the bike in< show them what the problem is and ask for advice.... Usually if you are nice enough about how you ask for help they dispense their advice for free.
Hell you may just be lucky enough for someone to say they would help you after hours for free.

    The VFRW Princess has spoken...

This is case in point of why people should consider supporting their local bike shop instead of trying to save $2.00 by placing your parts orders with some guy in his boxers 8 states away. My local shop has done me right and cut me a freebe on 2 minute assistance jobs after I spent my money with them. They know I shop internet prices before coming in and they are usually $5-$10 more expensive. Normally what I'd pay in shipping. I support the local guy and then they support me when I need it.
