agreed, no reason to compare the best of the VFRs (Gen3) against the others - there is no comparison!!

thinking through this VFR day a little more...

NESBA provides all of the safety, cornerworkers, control riders etc as part of their track days (or via contracts with the track operators). The thunderbolt day was $150 and summit Jefferson is $145 which is pretty cheap.

Add to that the $75 NESBA annual membership (actually $50 sign up in Jan/Feb during the member drive) and we are looking at like $200 a head, and wont have any of the logistical, liability or safety considerations associated with a "roll your own" track day.

Now, if we were to do a "mostly VFR" day with NESBA, we would all have to sign up in Jan/Feb and no less than 45 days before the event to eliminate the risk of the event selling out to other NESBA members. Usually events are totally sold out 2 weeks before, and the more popular dates selling out 30 days in advance.

So if we all book in Jan/Feb, it's almost certain that we can run as a group with few exceptions if we dont book all of B class. NESBA's general formula is 15-18 riders per track mile --- which for Summit Jefferson is about 19-20 riders per group (1.1mi) and at Thunderbolt (2.25mi) its more like 38-40 slots.

I would be happy to be a "NESBA ambassador" of sorts, answering questions about prepping the bikes, track day formats, meeting people at the track, getting registered/teched etc. if this helps at all.

    Haven't received any responses yet.

All I know is I've been curious about the prospects to rent a track for some time now. This is helping me scratch the itch if nothing else.

I've got some numbers back from NJMP. I'm awaiting an insurance quote. Overall I'd say I'm optimistic about it. I have numbers for the track rental itself and the flaggers. Not sure what the insurance quote will bring though.

When I have all the info, I'll post up again.
