because it was on sale and it replaced a similar one with like a fleece turtleneck. The problem was the fleece neck made my helmet really tight (it was warm, though) and my head would hurt after a few minutes. I like the freezeout much better and it has a long enough skirt that wind isn't working under it like the turtleneck style.

Being so resourceful and impecunious, i cut the upper sleeve section from a battery acid-damaged sweatshirt to cover my neck.....

With this you can seal the gap around the helmet opening to reduce both noise and draft.

Yup. Alternative measures then! I don;'t mind some cold air on the neck for a short ride around town but freeway driving like that sux.
