image.jpg Well that was short lived. Didn’t make it home. Bike lost all electrical and shut down 15 miles from home. I am guessing I either blew the main fuse or ran off of battery the whole time and killed it. Diagnose a little this weekend I suppose. Booo

New battery installed on Sunday. While running it measured 13.05. I just figured I needed higher rpm to increase the charge rate.
So after getting home and measuring the battery, it is DED. 0.000v. Battery tender says No! No charge is the outcome. I need to figure out the cause. Maybe this weekend.
Uggg, it was so much fun until that. Sad now.
FYI you get 35 miles out is a shorai Li battery before it dies.

It took me a couple tries to get mine sorted. Did the same thing, except mine was an Antigravity. Overcharged the battery until it swelled up. Not wanting to mess with it any longer and risk possible damage, I just replaced the entire charging system. Most folks won't go that extreme. Sorry to hear you're still in no man's land.

All good. Rick O sent me a diagnosis guide. Hopefully I can determine RR or bad coil-s. Since electronics is not my strong suit, so I am super stoked with this guide. I guess these are known problems with the NC30/35.

What a sick feeling that is. Hope it's something easy (read: relatively cheap).

You looked good sitting next to the side of the road tho.

Just a little embarrassing wearing my fancy gear with a broke down bike. Only benny is that the homeless didn't want to mess with me with all of my armor on. hahaha
Really hope it is just the RR.

    Not how it should be.

I'd start off with fitting the correct size tyres to it and check your sag at the front. It looks almost chopper like.

Compare how much fork "leg" yours is showing on yours
    [IMG]

    vs ours.

Alright back in action...sort of. I replaced the dead Shorai with a new one and ran through Rick Oliver's list of checks. So far it does not seem too far out of spec, but the bike will not charge more than 12.95v at 5500 rpm or anywhere for that matter (which is out of spec..obviously).
I am getting good resistance readings coming off of the generator wires. .6 on all three. Nothing is grounded internally on the gen. The battery has been idle for 4 days and dropped .25v in total. Most of that was right after installation, but only lost .02 last night. We verified the charging voltage at 12.95 max. So I guess it must be a bad "something" inside the generator.
I did notice a lithium-only rectifier on RO's website. I am waiting for a return email from him. Not sure if the battery is causing issues or bad generator part internally.
Insight is welcome as usual. :)

I don't remember you mentioning it... have you swapped in a different regulator to see if anything changes? (Regardless of how this one "tests")

Did you take your measurements with the bike at operating temp, or cold? Heat matters...

    ^^ answers:

bike was mostly cold, but off of choke.
I have two regulators from another harness, but I wasn’t sure if I would damage anything by swapping them. They use the same wiring pattern and should be from either an 30 or 35.

Well. Thanks for the lessons. Thankfully Iconic loaded me up with extra harnesses. Fitted up different rectifier and we are sitting at 13.86 at 3k cold idle. I will push on to full temp and see what readings we get. Thanks again for input!
