Ya know, I say that, just from what I have read here, there seems to be a lack of respect for the hosting city on the part of some (maybe a majority but not all) motorcyclists. However, this ban may not fly. Since I am not familiar with the area or the events held there, I would say if there are any automobile rallys, conventions, get togethers, or the like, and there is no ban on those as well, then it is just the m/c community that has been targeted and therefore, may not be a valid ban at all. And if that is the case, I say get the AMA involved.

If a city hosts a rally or event, then those attending should have respect for that city, even though there are going to be those who have no respect for anything or anyone in attendence.

Holister in CA has also worked to shut down the rally recently restarted there, and that is a mostly white crowd.

It has to do with he noise, the drinking & the general distaste the general public feels towards motorcyclists.

    Vinney:

Unfortunantly, this one probably will fly. I'm an AMA member and a few months ago (maybe longer:unsure:) there was an article about MB's possible bike rally ban.

The rub is MB has the authority to make this desicion and MB does NOT host any car events that are similar from my understanding.

But there is a warning in all this. Even if a city hosts a car/ truck event, if it didn't get anywhere as wild and cost the city as much as the bike week. A municipality could ban one and not the other. Yes, its discrimination, but if it costs the city and its citizens life, limb and property then an event could be singled out and shut down. Now the city in question would have to prove to the court why they singled out one event over the other, but it can be done and upheld.

How about throwing it back on the attendees that ruin it for others - personal responsibility, respect for others and others' property, control of alcohol consumption, adherence to the laws, and just plain old fashioned good manners like your mama taught you would solve the problem. Nobody wants a bunch of cretins damaging and destroying their homes, businesses, and environment.

I've been to both Chopper Week & Black Bike Week (Yes, that is what is was called) in Myrtle Beach. On the 4 days I was there, I was ashamed to be a motorcyclist. The chopper pinheads are bad enough. There are not enough terms in the English language to describe how shitty Black Bike Week was. The hi-lights:
    4 murders
    over 500 bike thefts
    over 1000 traffic citations

It was so bad that my friends & I rented a UHaul van, drove the bikes into it every night & back the van up to a wall. I would NEVER, EVER go to either one again. I would rather go to Milwaukee & say HD's are only ridden by faggots & girls then go to MB Bike Week.

Daytona was no where near as bad. Daytona is a display of human stupidity on a phenominal scale, but I don't remember any serious crime. Plenty of idiots will a small penis trying to prove how bad ass they were was about it.

In the "What The Hell Am I Thinking" catagory, my HD faithful neighbor has conned me into going to Americade in Lake George, NY this summer. I will reserve judgement until I've actually been there.

    KC-10 FE out...

Lake George will be good experience for you. At least it was for me years back. Basically the Americade is mostly big land yacht type bikes. Tons of them. Plus there area is great riding if I remember correctly. I stumbled across it in one of my NY rides by accident.

I can understand the Holister thing too. That's the main place all the ill will towards motorcyclist started. Yes it was a big party. But bad press fueled the problem with made up stories of rape, pillage and plunder. That and the Marlon Brando movie The Wild One. It's been an up hill battle for mc's. The AMA has done a lot for us in that respect. There are still many places closed to motorcyclist. Because of the posers out there(lawyers, doc's,judges, businessmen, etc) We are becoming more accepted. All you have to do is act like a human being, not an animal.

As for thse who monkey around,oh well.

Let's just say there were more fork seals blown in 5 days than the entire history of NESBA track days

KC-10FE, Lake George is actually a good time if you're going to ride and not look around at stuff. I've been there three straight years, fourth upcoming but I've never attended any of the festivities. I have no interest in the crowds. I go to ride with friends, that's about it. There are some real gems up there in terms of roads.
