Very sorry for your loss. I've been there a few times myself . Our pets give us unconditional love.
They become legitimate family members and we come to depend on them for many things in our lives.
My kids have felt the heart break through the years but we now talk of the many memories and happiness our pets bring us. My kids are 18 & 24 but never have forgotten . I've always loved dogs and can't imagine my life without them.

Was talking to a longtime friend today who said she believes we are given certain pets at a time in our lives to teach us certain things. And once we've learned all we can from them, then their job is done and they must go on.

Besides all the companionship and help getting through tough times; I learned patience and understanding from Max which has benifited my son. In his passing, he has made me want to be a better person. I don't believe I was a bad person by any means but I'm sure I could have been better and he deserved the best.

We made Wyatt a photo book with Max and Reini in it (the corgi we also lost a few months ago). He saw Reini's picture and said, "Reini is high in the sky." That floored us because we never said anything of the sort and 6mo ago we just said she was gone and left it at that.

Wyatt didn't seem to fully process yet.
