I sent Brandon those photo's. That's actually me taking a leasurly stroll along the Dragon. That's the quality & size you get on your CD if you order from WWW.KILLBOY.COM . To quote Mr McKenzie from "All Things Scotish" (when SNL was actually funny for the younger members), they're "FREAKIN' HUGE!!!" In addition to Killboy, there are at least two other companies that stake out the roads, Moonshine Photo & Zee Photo.

DId you guys noticed the rider on the side of the street who seems to be  looking for his bike on the video? It's around the 4:23 timeframe.

That dragon looks awesome, been doing a lot of research on it and I know it will be the mother of all road trips but I hope to make it there in 2008. Just got done watching SuperBikes on speed channel and they had a 15 minute spot on the dragon, just out of curiosity, is there a lot of law enforcement around the dragon, seems like they could get their monthly quota in one weekend...

It sounds fun and all to go to Deals Gap, but that traffic blows. Do you even get out of 2nd gear anywhere? It also looks like solid double yellows all the way; ie no passing legally. Are there a bunch of old farts on their Sunday drive too? I wished I lived closer to check it out first hand but from all the videos I see, it looks like a nightmare and more trouple than it's worth. Correct me if I am mistakin on this view of the "DRAGON".

The level of law enforcement is directly proportional to the amount of idiots out that day. If no wrecks or other chaos occurs, you'll never see a cop. If someone wrecks or a semi F's up the road, the cops will be out in force. Yes, it is true there are double yellows the entire length but it's an un-written rule that as long as you do it safely and responsibly, you can indeed pass. The biggest culprits screwing up traffic are the Harley assholes. Not all of them are assholes, just the ones that see the need to ride in packs. They NEVER pull over to let the sport bikes go by and then when you stop at the overlooks, they like to sling insults about your choice of bike. 90% of the cars will pull off to let you by. What gear you get into depends on how goo you are.

The Dragon is an experience that you MUST experience if you are able to. I drive 750 miles ONE WAY just to ride the entire area twice a year. If you live in the CPRofNJ, where 99% of the roads suck, like I do, you'll go ANYWHERE just to ride a piece of twisty pavement. Just think, the CLOSEST area of twisties to me is the Pocono's and that's at least 1.5 hours to get there.

He was just cleaning up some water or oil that somebody had spilt on the road to prevent a accident, he had a leaf blower trying to dry it up.

Thats one cool thing about the place, if there is any dangerous obsticals on the road riders will take the inisiative (spelling?) to clean it up before somebody gets hurt.

    Hi All,

I thought I would stop by and say Hi. Brandon did a great job of filming and leading us thru the Gap. That red VFR of his sure likes the twisties and he made me work hard to stay behind him. btw, the black ST belongs to me and it loves the curves too.

    Be safe all

I was wondering how hard the ST was being worked to keep up. The camera does not give much away in that respect.
    What a great road.

The weekends can be a little crowded with car and bike traffic. I would recommend, if I was having to travel a long ways, to work it so that I had atleast a few days of weekday Dragon time. Any holiday weekend is VERY crowded and dealing with the Harley traffic is sometimes worse than the car traffic. The Harely's like to run in packs and it gets hard to pass.

It is 132 miles from my front door to the Dragon. So we try to make as many trips as possible during the season.

There is a picture on the wall, at the Dragon, of the last cop that chased a sport bike thru the Dragon, it ended up of the road and down an embankment.

I haven't been down there in 12 years. I used to go before it got famous, and commercialized.

Ron Johnson, a real nice guy, copywrited the name "Tail of the Dragon". He gave all the turns a nick name, sold t-shirts. He had a side kick, Nick name was Danger Boy, or some such thing. His real name was/is Daryl, I think. He had a cute girlfriend, Lori. Both of them took the Dragon one too many times. Now they just drive it in a car, and take pictures.

If you want a clean shot, go late afternoon, early e ending. The cops have gone home and the Harley thugs are out getting drunk by then. Most people crash going down the mountain. Cruise down. Haul ass up, if you dare. The pavement used to have tons of grip. The pavement was made out of really sharp little stones. It may still be that way, like I said it's been a long time.

I'd go again,if I could find someone that'd go with me. There are plenty of good roads around here. I stay close to home now days.

Yea well, that was back then, now I have to agree. We actually do have it pretty good around here. ;) Still there's something about certain roads one hasn't been on that looks like a hoot that draws one in..
