    ...Noise is quite loud

    Hi
I recently fitted a Danmoto JISU to my 5th Gen FIX

    My observations:

Strap / Hanger for the silencer is fiddly to fit and the rubber is quite thin in construction and looks as though it will burn up in a short period. I had trouble getting it to lay flat and stay put around the hanger

The supplied link pipe diameter was too large at the junction of the exhaust collector. Fitting a new gasket for the standard exhaust goes a long way towards resolving this issue but the fit was not quite tight enough (there did not appear to be any leak though).

The whole assembly was a bit too loose for liking and moved about easily. Probably can be resolved given enough time and patience.

At Idle, the exhaust sound is very deep and compared to other exhausts I have used, it is immediately apparent that this exhaust is going to be loud. Once underway, my concern over the volume of the silencer was confirmed. Way louder than I expected even with the baffle or 3rd party DB killer fitted.

You will definitely be noticed on the road with this slip on fitted

For me it was too loud and I am accustomed to running a 'full-power' open pipe on my 5th Gen

I switched back to a street legal Motad for sanity...

    Pros:
    • Looks great, like it was designed for the 5th Gen from the outset
    • NOT marked 'Off Road or Race Use only
    • Price

    Cons:
    • Potential fitting issues due to flimsy hanger and supplied link pipe / clamps being a touch too small
    • Very noisy. Barely quieter than when no silencer is fitted!!!
    • Optional Baffle does not make a great deal of difference

So I'm the only one who thinks the DanMoto stuff looks cheap and nasty, and sounds like a fart in a mason jar?
