My first bike was a gs500e....great bike. I threw on a full supertrapp system which sounded great. Get her the crash bars, cheap protection. Congrats on the purchase!

I actually was waiting to hear you chime in.

I was looking into a gs500 forum and was gonna use the username gshusband. No joke.

Long story short, you need flame retardant to even post at that other forum ( for all the flaming and retardation going on over there ).

I wont post the name, but I am not going back after reading the few first threads.

I know plenty of good techs and mechanics on vfrworld that can probably help me along on this site, rather then a gs site. and the comradery here at vfrworld is second to none.

So we will just hang here at the vifferworld with our vfr and our gs500.

Thanks for all the responses guys ( and gal ). Mud Hasnt been on here but when she gets home she is gonna see

Clean garage that now has room for two bikes :)

Freshly detailed bike ( god, I spent a few hours cleaning it up this morning before the pics )

Some decent pics of her bike already posted on this thread for her ( camera phone best I could do )

Bunch of way cool people on vfrworld took the time to reply to this thread.

Now got to get her set up for the Safety course

gstwins is a pretty good gs500 forum. One guy Bhudda is not always pleasant and is a knowitall but he does do good work and knows his stuff.

btw, if you have any questions, I got fairly intimate with that bike on several occasions. You'll find out its super easy to work on. The airbox does make it harder to work on.....oh and if you need any parts. I have a stock airbox, centerstand, and stock shock that I will send you for shipping cost.

Haven't seen one of those in awhile.

When an old friend of mine Colette first started riding she bought herself one of these GS500E's as her first bike. I rode it once myself. You're absolutely right Neckutter, they're totally fun little starter bikes and an absolute blast for squirtin' around town on. Looks to be in good shape too. Your wife will love it. Congrats.

    See ya TOECUTTER.
Can I have your '86? :pound:

That is a nice looking bike!

I really like my VFR but she doesn't get jealous when I ride my CBR or eye the occasional Ninja 250 or GSXR 750 on CL.

cool bike. I used to want one of those when I was first looking for a street bike. They look like great starter bikes. That one seems tailor made for a girl, too with that color. I showed it to my wife and she said it looked cool. I tried getting her started a while back with a vf500 then a ninja 250 cause she said the 500 was too big. She got a total ride time of nearly 30 seconds in before parking it again.

Ok, Ok, the girlie is here

Thank you all for your congratulations and kind words.
I am going stir crazy not being able to try her out.
She is lovingly named The Suzi X after Sheri Moon Zombie's character in
The Haunted World of El Superbeasto.

Late at night when neck is sleeping I constantly argue with myself about just going and taking her around the block. I could do it, but def want to take the course.

No confidence in myself yet. I will get there though, and I will go on rides with y'all and bring up the rear and love it looking at all those VFR asses. :bootyshake:

I mean the bikes, not the riders. :eek:hwell:

Well, thanks again guys. Can't wait to post about my first ride....soon, very soon!
