I'm thinking it's the cap. It seems fine then blam- the reservoir is empty and no coolant anywhereon the ground or bike except in the radiator.

Occasionally after a ride I smell antifreeze near the front of the bike too.

I'm thinking replacing the overflow reservoir and cap (both on order), and test it.

I'd suggest that if you are going to take the time to pressure test the system that you lift the tank and remove the air filter housing so that you can look carefully at the hoses in the V and around the thermostat... Lots of hoses and clamps and they are all 10+ years old.

Ok I'm doing the leak down test now on the radiator. I stopped two minor leaks/drips that would only occur from 20-15 lbs psi at the neck.

The leaks were two hose clamps that aren't immediately accessible so they never were touched.

This kit from harbor freight tools rocks![IMG]

Ha! Didn't see your post until after I noticed those. You're right on with that. Unfortunately whoever put on the water pump (mama honda??) put the outer clamp facing down so I'll need a small claw foot wrench on an extension to reach it. Don't have that now.

When the bike was cold I was losing coolant slowly at 20psi. Brought the bike up to operating temp and then let cool. Topped fluid, ran her to 160 let cool and re-tested at 140 degrees. Leak is less but there.

Alright so I gotta pull the air cleaner base at the throttle body and tighten.

Dammit the more I work on the bike the more I want to keep it. Plus my neighbor just backed into it and cracked the fairing more.

I think she's starving for attention lol

Wow, clean bike! It looks great. Makes me want to give mine a bath...
If you smell antifreeze again after a ride then there may be more clamps to deal with. But that tool will be an effective indicator.

Ran the bike up to 220 degrees and no leak. But with the pressure tester at 20 psi there is a slight one.

Hopefully that's good enough without having to take it further. The leak wasn't bad with 20 psi.
