A couple of years ago I was in the lot at Wally's when I saw a funny bumper sticker (God Bless our troops, especially the snipers). I thought it'd be funny to text the picture to my brother, who enjoys such things. Well, in the 10 seconds it took to get the picture, the owner walks up. He was quite confrontational when he asked me why I was taking a picture of his car. I told him I loved the sticker and laughed about it, but he was genuinely upset. I walked away quick. My thoughts were, "Why the heck would you care if someone takes pictures of your car??? It sits out in public ALL DAY. There is nothing private about it!

In any case, I highly doubt anyone could easily harm you by just photographing/knowing your plate number. If it's that valuable, why even take a picture? Just memorize it, then write it down! It's only a few digits, and easy to do.

    I wouldn't worry.
