Congrats on the new addition Bazza!
    The bike looks fantastic!
Good luck with the tooth drilling. I had one yanked last week, so I feel your pain.
    Carry on...

Took my own advice. Pack of 50 just arrived for $15... 30 cents each. Nice to have on hand, I think I was very close to being out. And the 86 FII is getting some stainless lines soon.

Thanks, Tom. Everything went OK for the most part. No matter how you slice it....having to lay on your back for over an hour while people are sticking instruments in your mouth.....probing around.......drilling........it's always going to be a bit of a P.I.T.A.! Just glad it's over with!

My order came too - I got 3 packs of 10 and paid more than you did - but compared to the freaking dentist bill today...was a freaking bargain! :D

Anyone know how to tighten up the mirror where it attaches to the stalk on my VF750F Interceptor?

That collar is not rubber.......and doesn't seem to be movable. I tried spinning the mirror on the stalk and it didn't do anything.

    TIA!

On those plastic mirrors, don't think you can.

On the Genuine Honda mirrors you can remove the glass from the rubber (CAREFULLY) and there is a spring loaded nut in there.

    Dodged a bullet this morning.

After the acquisition of that RWB RC26, I realised I should take a look at getting a larger storage unit. Found one at the same price as my first one ~$110/month for a 10x15. That's doable and will help me keep these bikes out of the weather while I work on storage solutions here at my place.

So my usual routine is to take my ebike over to the storage unit, come back home, ride my bike over, and ride the ebike home.

Yesterday was the day to do this.

I have 2 bikes to take there...this Euro RC15 and my newest RC26. I get on the first one and after it runs a bit I noticed something wet dripping down from under the tank. Oh crap....fuel tubes/orings?

Turn petcock off and park it and take the RC26 over. Wonderful ride over on the new bike.....just heavenly!

Come back home and turn my attention to other stuff on my to-do list. Plus weather turned drizzly anyway. All night long wondering if I'm going to have to take those carbs off again....grrrrr......

Of course, you start off checking fuel lines first, which I did this morning.

AHA! Slight fuel leakage from the coupling going into the carbs. I'm like doing cartwheels (in my mind anyway).

Replace the fuel line clamps with new modern ones and problem solved! YAH!!!!!!!!

    Also WHEW! :D

Public Storage is the WORST !!!:mad:

they lure u in with low prices to start, then raise the rent alot, sometines as much as $60/month, and the rent never stops increasing.

my biker buddy here rents a P.S. 10X15 unit that went from $264 to $325 in one recent jump !
ITS OUTRAGEOUS :marioghost: avoid public storage and find an alternative. in two years your rent will double.

Yow...that IS outrageous! You definitely do have to watch any rate hikes.

I don't think my rates will go up for at least the first year.

They have some with doors on both ends that are 10x30 and rent for $226/month so that's the direction I will be going after I wait a week or two. They cannot convert any current rent over to any new unit, so I'm just going to wait a bit, upon advice from the manager there. He said he has 3 units like that available so there should be one for me even if I wait. They can hold it for 2 weeks so I will really only be paying double for a week or so - not bad.

I had one of those like that at the very same storage place about 10-15 years ago except I think it was 12' wide instead of 10', and I kept my Porsche 914 in one end and my irrigation trailer in the other end. Plus assorted other stuff I didn't want to store at my place.

Update on the storage unit situation. You're gonna love this........

I had originally started with an affordable 10x15 (~$ 100 per month) and was able to get 8 of my bikes in there:

    IMG_3289.JPG

Then, as I acquired two more bikes.......I realized one more storage unit the same size would be helpful, so I waited and watched until the same size became available at their "Internet" special pricing....and grabbed a second unit:

    IMG_4290.JPG

Now I'm up to ~$200/month and 2 units at 150 SF=300 SF total, so I start to think about other options where I could keep everything in just one unit.

Looking at their website I see a 10x30 for not much over $200/month and it has a door at either end. I had one just like it at the very same facility (see photo previous post) except that one was 12x30 and had electricity. Those go now for almost $300/month, so forget that!

So yesterday I am the office there and the manager tells me about a particular unit they have that's 20x20 and goes for about the same $ as the 10x30 I'm asking about. Also double doors but side by side - instead of at either end.

She said it's been reserved but the party is not returning phone calls to confirm and she's not going to let it just sit there while it is in demand. Told me if they didn't call back by today at Noon I could have it.

Well.....we just finished doing the deal and it's reserved in my name now with move in date no later than the 28th of this month! The reason I'm waiting 2 weeks is they cannot give me a pro-rated refund on the two 10x15's I already paid for for this month. So no sense in paying for this new one while still paying for the others. I'm happy to wait.

I'll post pics of the new unit when I get moved in.

400 SF is a boatload of space when it comes to cycle storage!

I could also use part of it for a car if I want.

These are not climate controlled BTW - just out of the elements and secure from theft.

Would absolutely love to have a "shop" built on my property with room for my bikes but for now this is the best alternative.

    Stoked!

public storage is the WORST. dija know about the late fee ? its $50 if youre late, even by one day. i said it before, my buddy is being charged $322 for his 10X15 here not climate controlled.

rents go up all the time and dont stop. you have no control.

I have mine set up on auto-pay so there will be no late payments.

Sorry to hear about your buddy's expensive storage unit. Could be more expensive just due to the state he lives in....or maybe his is climate controlled.

My rent will be $216 for a 20x20, I believe......

That's about the size of a 2 car garage! :)

That clamp on the right appears overtightened.

Monday I will be moving my bikes to a new storage unit. The 20x20 I mentioned upstream.

I have 9 bikes out there right now using two 10x15's so I will be increasing my storage capacity by 100 SF at the same rate plus have them all in one unit.

    Cost will be approx. $220/month.

    Took a few pics yesterday.....

you might be surprized how much the rent will increase. pubic storage will get you started for a fair price, then it goes up alot. the longer you rent there, the more you pay/month.

I know you keep saying that but it's not like that here.

That 12x30 unit I mentioned earlier that has an electrical outlet and overhead light was only around $200 when I was renting it over 15 years ago.

I looked at the pricing for the same unit a week or so ago......and it wasn't quite up to $300/month.

Appreciate the post but I'll be fine here, I'm sure......

Haven't updated the Euro RC15 thread in a while but did mention a few things in the '84 RC15 thread.

I wasn't riding her too much while I worked on the '84 and did other stuff, but as mentioned the other day, I finally got around to treating her original fuel tank with Evaporust and reinstalling it, so am taking her out more now with the intention of running an entire tank of fuel through her as a way of making sure there won't be any issues from the rust treatment I did. I'll also have to keep checking the fuel filter on a regular basis.

So the last run she was running hot so today I added a whopping 50 ounces of coolant! It really made a difference as tonight's for run she ran at normal temps.

Now that I'm getting some seat time on her I will be attending to more maintenance items, that I'm sure she needs.

I have to say though, it's nice to have her operational!
