My daughter has been sitting here with me, reading along with your posts this morning. She was wondering what my wife and I were talking about while looking at the computer after breakfast, so she has flipped though all the posts thus far. Being only 6 there were a few that made little sense to her, LOL, but she just loved the idea of the adventure, and the fact a GIRL is doing it. She just proudly exclaimed that "Anne Marie" is COOL. Now she wants to go for a ride, but for now she's happy to settle for the back seat. BUT when she gets older................... She wants to be just like Anne Marie.

Timmies is a nickname for Tim Hortons. Call it the Canadian equivalent of Dunkin Donuts

As with the US, the temperatures vary depending on where you are located and the time of year. The temperature in the sunny Okanagan today is a balmy 60 F, which is about normal for this time of year. During the summer all across Canada we quite frequently see average temps in the 25 to 40C (80-105F) range.

If you are finding that your core is getting cold, a good easy temporary fix is to stuff a newspaper down the inside front of you jacket. Don't crumple it up, just shove it down there. That will stop the wind penetrations and make one hell of a lot of difference in keeping you warm. If is gets wet, discard and get another newspaper.

Yah, been ugly here in Manitoba for several days straight now ... and she's further north now then when she was here ... big kudos to her!

So, a quick update. Her battery went dead again when she stopped to take a photo - she had her volt meter with her (smart lady!) and was able to get me a few readings.

    12.2v resting
    3.8v key turned to ON
... intermittently the fuel pump would come on and she was hearing sizzling / crackling noises behind the dash

What's behind there? Headlight relays and turn signal relay, right? Trying to think of what else is behind there looking at the Service Manual and wiring diagrams.

She was able to get it jump started by CAA and I was able to help co-ordinate with GT750. He is on his way to meet her with the truck. We're getting her to the nearest gas station where she can safely warm up and wait for him. I'm just giving her directions (got her rough location on the map)

I'll update when I have more info. She's killin' it on keep a cool head. :)

Randy - if I know far enough in advance, maybe I could swing that trip with you ... I'd trailer to Calgary and ride the rest of the way.

I would check those stator connections if that was not previously done. Where is may sound like it is coming from behind the dash, it could be coming from the side. Just a thought.

We checked the stator connections and R/R connections .. they looked really good. I wanted her to stay longer here so I could have beefed up the system but she had to keep moving.

Thanks, that's a very good possibility! I'll put that on the list for tomorrow.

UPDATE: She's safe at a gas station and GT750 is only a few minutes away from there now.

UPDATE: GT750 is now with AM ... I can now relax and not worry. :)

Any suggestions / idea guys, throw 'em at me so we can help her get that bike fixed. The wiring harness recall is really god possibility.

If I do go next year, I am going to try the Canada to Mexico/24 hour Ironbutt again. You up to that. To accomplish this, it is non stop riding. Stop for gas and pee. That's about it. Or we could meet at Milk River AB, Cross the border and start the clock at Sweetgrass Montana, and try for Mexicali Mexico instead. Google says that is only 20 1/2 hours while Abbotsford to TJ is 23 1/2. But that puts us a full days riding almost to back track to Atascadero either way.

I'm not concerned about that ... I'd be down for that, I'd just need to get a pass from the wife and plan it well in advance.

My trip bringing the bike back from Saskatoon was hellishly long, but I pulled it off with a messed up foot. I'd be good to go.

Jeff, about the only thing I could suggest is pull all the fuses and check voltage, replace one fuse at a time and check voltage again. This way will give you an idea which circuit is the problem, strange it is not blowing a fuse
